80R6Noise, JazzLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)This music was recorded at The Loading Dock on two mornings in February 2021. One take, with all the mistakes and possible alignments in sound. This music centers around the idea of chance and how that squares up with intentionality. Devising systems to frame up short term memory and being open to the process of discovery thru playing. As as drummer and supporter of music, the idea of putting together an album that features just my playing would have seemed far fetched a year ago. Now, I don't give a shit. This music reflects where I am at this moment and serves as a testament to the feeling of being somewhat adrift in isolation while also finding ground with a pulse that comes from the physicality of playing music and reverberating sound inside a comfortable space. These recordings are two 40 minute improvisations that have been folded in half so that the piano overlays the drums and guitar which were played simultaneously.United States of AmericaNew HampshireLittletonhttps://theloadingdock.bandcamp.com/album/80r6
A Beautiful SceneRockLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)What did I make? I record of original music for the RPM challenge. I made this record by using real instruments and using my creativity to come up with something original. Who did I make it for? Mostly myself as a prayer to God about my own selfishness. There is also one track dedicated to Tony Sly and Kenneth “Sam” Broussard. Highly impactful people that will be missed from this worldUnited States of AmericaNew HampshireRochesterhttps://alonetone.com/abeautifulscene/playlists/a-long-night-of-radio-drama

A Herd of TurtlesJazzLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)My RPM Project was inspired by the 42nd Anniversary of the release of Douglas Adams' first Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy. It tries to create a intergalactic playlist for hitchhiking through space. I used my Studiologic Numa Compact 2 keyboard, iRealbook for base and drums and UVI workstation for synth sounds. I also used public domain sounds from NASA collection of space recordings (noted on each track).United States of AmericaMaineYorkhttps://aherdofturtles.bandcamp.com/album/42-2

A&CRock, PopEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)This record is a collaboration between myself and Chris Newton, a fellow local producer. We've been meaning to get music out there, and that gave us a push to complete at least some tracks out of our initial plan. We collaborated mostly remotely, sending stems and rough mixes back and forth. It was challenging but really gratifying.United States of AmericaWashingtonSeattlehttps://soundcloud.com/alinas_music/sets/ac-in-the-shadows-ep

Abbey BlackwellFolk-World-CountryEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)I wrote these songs in order to get out of my usual approach to writing. I used poems as the lyrics for some songs and for others based the contents of the text from other sources outside myself. This EP was recorded in a windowless room in Seattle.United States of AmericaWashingtonSeattlehttps://abbeyblackwell.bandcamp.com/album/other-lives-ep
AchiraElectronicEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)I started off trying to create a sci-fi influenced ambient album and ended up with a story where I try to take the listener through a range of emotions. For me, the music is a journey largely inspired by our current climate crisis. I imagined people full of hope with an unseen danger forcing them to need to flee and find something new only to struggle and be lost along the way before, maybe, finally making it through to the other side. It was important to me to end on a hopeful note.United States of AmericaTennesseeChattanoogahttps://achira.bandcamp.com/album/exodus

Annika JayneFolk-World-CountrySingle (1 track or 5 minutes)My original goal for the RPM Challenge was an EP called Nostalgia. I have been writing songs for almost 30 years by now and I have been dying to record and release these older songs since in the 90s this wasn't possible unless you had a record deal. In fact, I had just started working on another album when I heard about the RPM Challenge. I decided to sign up very spontaneously and just produce the EP as a side project. However, in the middle of February, I realized an EP wasn't going to happen, at least not in the way I had imagined it. So, I decided to just go with the one single that was nearly finished to reduce pressure. That being said, the Nostalgia EP will still come, just a bit later. As for the song itself, I wrote By Your Side in 1994 when I fell in love with a French guy called Stéphane. Sadly, he had to leave before we really had the chance to get together. Back in August last year I asked my incredibly talented fellow indie artist Nathan Peter Illes whether he wanted to record By Your Side with me and luckily he agreed. But only in Februray did we actually record this as a duet. As guitar and vocals were done, I decided the song needed cello and percussion to give it a bit more texture. On fiverr I found Charlot Rivero (cello) and Larry Salzman (percussion) – in fact I had worked with Larry before on another song. But still the song needed something else. I had always loved the sound of a harmonica, since it always has this kind of nostalgic feel to it. So I asked my equally brillliant fellow indie artist Orange G whether he'd play it. Luckily, he also agreed to do it. As everything was recorded, Nathan mixed the song. Anyway, I'm so happy I found the RPM Challenge, I will definitely sign up again next year, it's a great concept!GermanyHeidelberghttps://annikajayne.bandcamp.com/track/by-your-side

BNoise, Folk-World-CountryEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)a 7 song EP single tracked live acoustic and voice with this new fandangled microphone that allows me to text from it and surf the innernets. It even allowed me to submit this rpm. I made this for my own eccentrically induced needs to humour and educate the world one ear at a time. These songs were recorded without a click track and wanted to leave them in their original conception. Any pauses in temp were deciding live where to go next. Choosing to go with these in their most honest form and save any additional takes when I multitrack these later. CanadaNova ScotiaHalifaxhttps://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/JGv6bLEt6btwk6gs6

Bruce LashRock, PopLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)This album is a personal reflection of 2020. I made it in my basement, running Reason 10 on a laptop. Waves Abbey Road plugins were used extensively for reverb chambers and plates, also tape machine simulations. And ADT, which is amazing! I also used Audiothing's Reels plugin for some nice, cheap vintage tape sound. Drums, keyboards and upright bass all came from Reason. I played actual guitars and electric bass, as well. I mixed on headphones, using the Waves Abbey Road Studio 3 plugin. Now my headphone mixes have balance, focus and depth! This plugin was a real godsend for me. Subject-wise: Isolation in quarantine, as a good thing and a bad thing, lockdown sex, super spreader friends, special wishes to a former TV presenter, an examination of the origins of the USA and how they have affected our present situation, personal loss, in memoriam, the end of human life on earth, life after death. Chris CookeClassical, ElectronicBoxed Set (30 tracks or 100 minutes or higher)This is my 15th RPM Challenge, so I decided to stretch myself by going for a Box Set. I enjoy the expressiveness of MPE controllers and soft synths. This album is largely an exploration of various MPE synth patches, and how they inspired me. Sometimes I pick a patch and improvise. Other times I’ll lay down a chord progression and improvise over it. A few songs are fully composed. The title and cover art were inspired by a hexagram in the I Ching. I used an artificial intelligence art tool to help create the cover art. Though the songs themselves were not inspired by the I Ching in any way (I wrote all songs before the I Ching connection came into play),once I'd grabbed a title from the I Ching, I decided to name all the songs with a hexagram that seemed to match the tone of the song. I put the final song order in hexagram order, too, since it seemed to flow well that way. This is the largest project I’ve ever created, and I’m really proud of myself for making it through. It is SOOO much harder to keep track of 30 songs than 8-10! Death and The PoetessRock, ClassicalEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)Your fav Elizabethan creepers are back! Death and The Poetess's 3rd RPM Challenge tips its chapeau to Weezer's Blue album, among other 1990s ghosts and Pumpkins. "Smelling Salts," a Jane Austen-esque title for a time-traveling mixtape full of Emily Dickinson worthy gallows humor (and a song from one of her poems). This record features some Princess Bride jokes alongside the mythology/archaeology-laden tunes you've come to expect from these cryptorian punks that watch too many history documentaries. This year's contribution to the tomb-triptych of: Necropolis by the Sea (2019),and Red Skeleton (2020) is "The Tomb-builders' Tombs," a love song about Deir el-Medina, Egypt. "Smelling Salts" the single is about social isolation and the character(s) and spirits one's home might now be inhabited by. Smelling Salts: Implying one has been unconscious/faint, and one is waking to the liminal space of this record as astral time (restorative psychedelic). Or perhaps 2020 had you in the doldrums, your own personal non-linear oubliette. We welcome you warmly to - now. Have a whiff, slow exhale, peel yourself off your fainting chaise. Try not to take this project too seriously cause I didn’t. I never started any track with an idea of what to make, I just went with the flow and saw what happened. Some worked, some didn’t. Endless State MachineElectronicLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)Produced by Me (aged 36) and Me (aged 20),late at night in two repurposed box rooms, decades apart. 'The Drone Variations' is my tribute to the works of Brian Eno, Steve Reich and Pink Floyd, to be listened to late at night when time seems endless. It's also a message in a bottle from me to me. Seriously, the record was inspired by the sound of a guitar sample I had discarded in my 20s... the sound of my old Samick through a simple echo pedal as I fell in love with the sustain produced by the overloading feedback circuit in my delay pedal as it would saturate. Revisiting the recordings as a much older man (with many more synths),I became fascinated with applying these dusty test recordings to new contexts and new technologies... New pieces fell out as throughout February '21 I furiously cut-up, restructured, re-arranged and relayered the tones time after time. Though the recording has an unresolved quality to it reminiscent of Brian Eno's ambient work, there are no loops (well, aside from a synth in track 1). It's all guided from the sophoric trace state I found myself in when my 20-year old self picked up that guitar and, too broke to afford a real loop pedal, decided to see what sustain tones I could get out of my echo pedal. Ether DiverElectronicLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)Oneirogen Codex is a concept album about dreams, and the prospect of increasing and/or controlling them. Ten tracks, mixed and released as two indexes and intended to be listened to as one continuous experience, with less than a second’s pause between Index A and Index B. Play it while asleep or in other dreamlike/altered states for maximum benefit. The ten tracks range from drones and soundscapes to fuzzy, distorted electronic downtempo. Experimental and eclectic, with a focus on mood and aesthetic, the album was made in a semi improvised, semi programmed way (“DAWless”),recorded live to cassette tape before editing within a DAW environment and minimal digital post processing. Five PounderRockEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)I've attempted the RPM Challenge for years and never, ever, ever, ever submitted a thing. I never got close to completing an album. My lack of knowledge and experience with creating beats and the recording process has kept me from even coming close. But, as a songwriter, it always got two or three new songs so, I try again and again. This year, I asked for help and recieved copious amounts of grace, groove and good vibes from all kinds of places. My 15 year old son, the current bass player in the band I sing for in Chicago, Company man. Three great friends and former band mates from October Sons back in New Hampshire, guitarist Jason Lane, singer Chris Peters and the drummer I've played with since I was my sons age, Kurt Ekstrom who not only provided some great tracks but mixed the whole thing. I even got a gift from an old high school classmate, Zander Carlson. This is one of the reasons I did not submit under my name, but the name Five Pounder. Thanks, fellas. Hey DanaFolk-World-CountryLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)This is my 3rd year. The last 2 were awesome experiences and focused more on the singer/songwriter alt folk rock sort of genre. I wasn't sure I was going to do it this year. I wasn't feeling any of the songs, lyrics, riffs, etc that I had saved and wasn't sure how much time and energy I could dedicate towards it. So I decided that I would just create on the spot and whatever came out of it or not, so be it. It wound up turning into a weird, loopy, lounge instrumental album. Huntr RamsElectronicEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)I created this 5-song EP for the @rpmchallenge and it’s a fusion of disco , deephouse and lofihouse . During the creation of the EP (February 2021),my city was hit with several snowstorms and so I wanted to create something that reminded me of a warm and exotic place. The challenge of this album was creating something that was different and the inspiration of creating the songs. I was inspired by my Filipino-American upbringing, trips to the Philippines, listening to different kinds of music including 1970s Manila Sound and Filipino Jazz of Bong Pañera, and the famous Manila Bay sunset. Overall, creating a ep in a month was a treat. I thank my collabs Riiiko (IG alt. @sandor.png) ,who helped create the energetic sound in Midnight 2 Sunlight and my sister, Emilia on the violin in the interlude Luzon. I also want to thank, jaseship and Phaser Studios on the mastering for the songs! Thanks! The good gear I had I couldn't use properly but I refused to let that stop me. I made videos for all the songs first and then recorded the songs on my little Boss recorder... transfered the mp3 experiments to my videos and edited it as best I could. The problem now to be solved was how to get my videos into mps. My solution was to play the songs on my computer while my microphone picks up the music without the video. Laminae ConfitNoise, RockLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)The 7th RPM album done now, and wow, that long and that many! Each year is a different “band” name plus album name. But they all basically are the same kind of lo-fi, songwriter-esque “rock” -- being a dog owner, so, now, “dog dad rock”. Still, these get made. For this year, Manatee (by Confit Laminae) is a loose collection of songs sort of circling an idea about a geriatric coming of age story. I also had help from Fictional Name, Int'l, and TamuTamu did the artwork! Recorded with GarageBand, Fender Cyclone electric guitar, BYOC Green Pony overdrive, Dogman Fire Fuzz, Keeley Eccos delay pedal, 70s Univox amp recorded using old JVC stereo mic, Yamaha FG-180 Red Label acoustic, Monoprice Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone and voice. The mix and vocals are never perfect, but you get the idea and can imagine bass/drums, etc. in there, I am sure. Fictional Name will aim to play a few of these to 11 with bass and drums and voices when it’s safer. Larry DeLucaFolk-World-CountryLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)This year I didn't pick a theme. I just came home from work at 2 AM and sat down at the piano and insisted on a completed piano vocal/demo before sunrise. I've had a lot of competing projects this year, so I didn't get to produce the tracks fully. Some of the uploads are the beginnings of proper tracks, others are the original piano/vocal demos. I always record the originals in low-fi so that I have to re-record everything at least once. For the CoVID challenge I went back to working in my studio directly, and it was so different. Some of these songs are terrible, and will never see the light of day again. A couple I think are quite good, and the rest could stand some polish. Magic BulletElectronic, NoiseLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)An experimental musician friend in Canada told us about the RPM Challenge, it struck immediately as a noble and inspirational idea, simply to make music (or elsewhere) for the sake of making music (or elsewhere),and to be one of many doing the same. So, February 8th, having decided we would very much like to be a part of it, we sat down and thought about what we should do. It’s lockdown #2 here in England, schools are closed, free time and space is minimal, and it’s winter, short days and icy cold. We wanted to do something that reflected the hopeless depressive monotony many of us feel at the moment, being unable to leave our homes for anything other than essential shopping and exercise, so we came up with “R.F.A.”, which we hope will be as much a challenge to get through as this pandemic is. Mark Dante TroianoRockLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)Imagine driving down the highway in Japan in a retro car, but with palm trees, or a California vibe, a guy protagonist and a he meets a girl in the process of trying to carry out his last heist. I wrote a fictional soundtrack to a romantic heist film. The track titles are major plot points. All Live, One Takes, First Takes. All in crazy tunings, or with a Capo. Lots of weird hammer-ons with totally unconventional chords. Every chord on the whole album I made up. Please enjoy listen to this. It took me years to be able to write this many Songs in one cohesive style that is completely my own and unrepeatable. If you can appreciate Music Theory, or have a good ear, you'll be able to hear how complicated, elaborate and original all of these Songs and how much work went into crafting this project. xo Mark Dante TroianoUnited States of AmericaMassachusettsMaldenhttps://markdantetroiano.bandcamp.com/album/the-getaway-the-complete-score-written-and-arranged-by-mark-dante-troiano

Maude BlanchetFolk-World-Country, ClassicalEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)This year I didn't have a piano at home, which is usually my go-to when it's time for music. It is also my first time recording and mixing audio, without throwing all the swear word possible both in French and English. Oliver Matthews-HannaPop, ClassicalEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)I created this record for myself, mainly as a challenge. I wanted to take five tracks that I wrote, and try to produce them all the way through, and see what happened. Each song covers a different style - some carry influences from classical music, and others have aspects of funk and alternative. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, with all the challenges that came along with it. I am also proud to say that I did complete the five tracks that I intended to! If I had all the time in the world, there would certainly be things that I would clean up in some of the songs. But that is what I loved most about this challenge. Just producing tracks in a short period of time, and seeing what comes out the other end. I hope you enjoy them!CanadaOntarioPerthhttps://soundcloud.com/omhmusic/sets/sliding-down-the-street

I made some (arguably) listenable tracks that represent how I was feeling that day of production! Don't know what genre or key or chord or whatever, just stuff that made me feel things.QatarDohahttps://alonetone.com/omama/playlists/covert

Oude KaasElectronic, JazzLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)I have been composing for about 10 years. I have had writers block for half of that time, and I've always wanted to make an Art Rock / Electronica / Jazz album centered around the storytelling and poetry. My biggest goal in this project was to create a robust process by which I can continue to make future work. I recorded everything in my practice space, and mixed it myself (sorry! I'm still working on that part of the process) I wrote each piece in the album to challenge a different aspect of my musicianship. Some of the tunes are targeting improvisational, conceptual or specific music theory skills, while others are simply challenging the fact that I'm trying to play all of the instruments. It definitely crept away from me and became something that I didn't plan, but watching it unfold was the magic of it! I spent 3 days systematically generating over 150 musical fragments, loops, grooves, synth patches, and seeds, and then I picked the top 5-10 on day 4 and started chasing it.United States of AmericaMassachusettsBostonhttps://oudekaas.bandcamp.com/album/committeehorse
OuroborosRockLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)The Weight of Days is the 10th consecutive RPM release by Ouroboros. It explores multiple themes that seem especially poignant in these Plague Years of 2020-2021. Loss, regret, fear, anxiety & depression, and even - dare I say it? - a faint glimmer of hope that not all is lost. Musically, it runs the gamut from rock ballad to goth metal, touching on grunge, alt-rock, and even a bit of electronica along the way, and interwoven with classical piano interludes to tie it all together. To say much more would be to cheapen the listening experience, so please set aside some time, sit down, and enjoy.United States of AmericaWashingtonSeattlehttps://ouroborosjc.bandcamp.com/album/the-weight-of-days

It's a mixture of new songs and some older songs that have been kicking around for a while, but never given any love. This 5 song EP explores the never ending questions of purpose on this planet, the conditions we are born into and die out of, the perceived restlessness of a mermaid's existence, the beauty of the moment in travelling bliss, and the common thread of bubbling unease between living through a pandemic and the pending war between the new and old gods from the book and TV series, "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman.CanadaNewfoundland and LabradorSt. John'shttps://patrickmolloy.bandcamp.com

peanut butter ghostFolk-World-Country, ElectronicEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)I set out to make sounds on a keyboard I recently acquired to explore what it can do and switch from my primary instrument of guitar, but I also deviated back to my more usual acoustic-metal-weirdo-folk stuff and recorded a few guitar/vox songs I've had kicking around for a while. I also went out in the world and made some field recordings on a tape recorder to blend in. I recorded all the songs onto a Tascam Portstudio, which helped keep things simple and was a fun challenge. I used my closet as a recording studio. I made this for myself, to be creative and see what I could do and learn, and also for my friends who have supported my music in the past, since I haven't put anything out in a while! Pierre Loves MikelonPop, NoiseEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)This is a vague concept EP, taking inspiration from the French territory of St. Pierre and Miquelon located just of the coast of Newfoundland. Why this concept? I'm not sure but it fits what I had in mind in terms of how we're all a little isolated, but also not that far away from each other. It was all written and recorded from scratch in the first two weeks of February 2021 from the comfort of my sofa - my only rules were that I could only use what was in arm's reach: no going over the other side of the room to get the nicer guitar. This is for me, selfishly, and less selfishly for anyone who has struggled with being away from loved ones. Stick at it, we're nearly there.IcelandAkureyrihttps://pierrelovesmikelon.bandcamp.com/

Project XRockSingle (1 track or 5 minutes)Genre: Surf This year’s RPM Challenge was indeed a challenge and I only signed up for a single! My month was fraught with problems, mostly having essential gear go south (mixing board was the biggie) and hearing issues (increase in tinnitus). So despite being nearly three weeks behind before I even got up and running, I was able to complete my challenge. I have to give props to Emily Gould and Matt Hayes for bearing with me and getting their contributions in under the gun. Singles to me were always 7-inch 45 RPM vinyl records, so it made sense to me to do two sides. Since both tunes were equally good in my ears, I decided to borrow from Cheap Trick’s first album and call one side A and the other 1 (you can decide which is which). “Tubed” is another way of saying the surfer got covered up by the wave as it curled over. Salman AhadElectronic, ClassicalLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)I started making music almost exactly one year ago with the explicit goal of eventually producing a full album for an RPM Challenge. I signed up for the 2020 RPM Challenge, but it was a foolhardy decision and I never ended up submitting or creating anything for that year, but I was a complete beginner and the spirit of the challenge did get me into the mindset of just making music and finishing tracks without overthinking anything. One year and more many doodles later, I'm so proud to have actually reached the goal! "Some People Dream, While We Sleep" blossomed into a concept album from the perspective of a sleeper entering the worlds of the dreaming for the very first time. skrag fernHip-hopLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)This is a short, mostly instrumental hip hop album. It's a mix of a few tunes that were unfinished tracks sitting on my hard drive, combined with some quick pieces that I put together in February. Album was largely made using piano/keyboard, samples triggered on a mpc-style midi drum pad, and Logic (DAW).  This was my first RPM in 6 years. The first was Stanley and the Befrienders (Livingstone) back in 2012. I had almost forgotten how much fun it was it was to partake in the RPM. Had a ton of fun making this one - 100% inspiration, 0% perfection. Kudos to Devon Milley and Ashton Whitt for supplying some tracks and source material used on a few tunes (tracks 1, 3, 4 & 5). This album is dedicated to the late MF DOOM, my NL homies, and all the unfortunate souls who fell victim to COVID-19. It has been a challenging year for many, so I hope this album will help get you grooving and bring a lil' smile.CanadaNewfoundland and LabradorOttawa / St. John'shttps://soundcloud.com/user-115145762/sets/sneeze

All layers were made with Roland Juno-DS and arranged and mixed with Cakewalk. I consider these songs works in progress, and I will likely revisit them in the future to development them further by mastering them more or adding new parts and vocals. temporarilylostatseaRockLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)I haven't been able to write anything ever since the COVID breakout, which really sucked as I used to write so much! So when I saw this challenge it really reinvigorated me - a goal to work towards and whatever happens I have to release that? Ok then! So I guess I wrote the album mainly for me to get myself back into loving music again, and it really has done that for me. I thought I was going to mess this up - I mean, I ended up going to hospital on the first day and thought 'right okay well this is over then', but I managed to make around half the album in that first week sitting in my bed on some medication that made me so sleepy. Just the idea of doing this again helped me carry on despite not being in the best condition, and that first week really pushed me so I continued every day until I accidentally broke my laptop around day 14. Luckily I had backups and luckily I had a friend with a spare laptop thank god! Anyway I'm rambling here, this has been the best experience so thank you for putting this on, I'm really, for the first time in a while, proud of what I've made and I'm really excited to do this again next year! Toppus Bottomus and Pilot SupremeRock, NoiseBoxed Set (30 tracks or 100 minutes or higher)Was recording a pretty acoustic drone album for two weeks and halfway through the month got inspired to make some instrumental deep rhythm psychedelic sludge/groove/punk music with an old friend of mine. We improvised and recorded most of this in two days. Editing through all of those hours of recordings took up all the time I was going to use to add vocals- so we let it stand as an instrumental collection. Ended up with 35 tracks and trimmed it down to 27 for bandcamp/RPM. Will probably return to whatever emerges as our favorites after we let it sit for a while. May add vocals to some of this eventually. Instead of "mastering", I just went through and had fun dripping Ableton delay all over the tracks. Tyler BurchfieldJazz, ElectronicEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)The concept was inspired by my musical fascinations, reflections in the midst of artistic and personal growth, and musings on the sociopolitical landscape throughout the course of the coronavirus pandemic. The album title has several meanings, referring to the multiple layers of anti-democratic 'over-rule' in modern society, the barely-sufficient victories we achieve amid the ugliness in the long road towards justice, and me finally "overruling" my long, irrational list of objections to releasing original material. I recorded and produced each track using only the instruments and software available at home, presenting a simultaneously limiting and expansive palate for expression. The music consists of woodwind and synthesizer-heavy orchestration, drawing from modern jazz, rock, psychedelic, and chamber influences, with a particular motivation towards exploring my curiosity of electroacoustic effects.United States of AmericaNew YorkBrooklynhttps://tylerburchfield.bandcamp.com/album/overruled

Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken ToysRock, Spoken WordLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)16 Years of RPM and Counting A note from Edrie: The first RPM challenge started what would become the artistic direction that we’ve now spent 16 years traveling. Walter and I met during the time of the 1st RPM challenge February has always been a time of renewal and change for us. Our daughter Wednesday, now 6, was born in February. We’ve premiered plays, moved houses, been on tour, witnessed weddings, mourned losses, And yet, we’ve released an album every February every year of the challenge. No matter what February has brought – we’ve made time to make music Last year, the world was just hearing the beginnings of what will likely define the lived-experience for all of humanity for a generation. Our way of being in the world, of creating, of supporting ourselves, of fellowship changed drastically this year. No more live in-person shows, the lifeblood of our very visual, very present band was tourniqueted. We still made music. No more getting together in the same physical space to create. We still made music. No more hugs or high-fives or smoke-circles or bodies packed together exuding energy. We still made music. We’ve lost and gained so much this year. Our Daughter Wednesday turned 6. The year of remote school and near complete isolation from other humans has changed her, changed all of us. She is still funny, kind, smart, sassy, but she is also wise in ways that are both wonderful and heartbreaking. We lost so many folks so dear to us this year including a good friend, to whom this this album is dedicated. Martha, you will forever be a part of this family and our music. We gained time as a family, time to be together to reflect. We lost time, with our friends, time performing our art in person. Walter started BUNKER BUDS, a daily dystopian talk show dedicated to bringing joy in to the often bleak loneliness of quarantine. They have touched thousands of folks with hundreds of episodes dedicated to helping people see the good and the light of artistic fellowship. Let Yourself Love Yourself. ALMOST TOGETHER AGAIN is our 16th RPM offering. It’s a marker in time, a symbol of what we lost and also what we’ve gained. It points to our North Star, the time when we will all be together again, somewhere between starshine and clay. The band couldn’t physically be together for this recording. We each did our parts in our own isolation and Walter brought them together in our tiny home studio high atop WitchCastle mixing everything themselves. ALMOST TOGETHER AGAIN is dedicated to the last 16 years of RPMs and to the people, places, and things that have made us who we are today. Thank you RPM! Thank you for the space to create and for the reminder that no matter what obstacles the world tossed in our way, we made music. Whiskers EPPop, RockLP (10 tracks or 35 minutes)At the school where I work, we have a music room, quite spacious. It's on the other side of the country so I travel there two days a week to care for the youngsters by day and in February: record an album by night. I had some songs already. Playing drums first, fifty songs, about half of them, I liked the takes. To those 25 songs I added piano first, then lead vocal - some wrong piano chords played took it down to 20 songs. Then guitar, then bass - and picked 12 songs for the album. Added some backing vocals - there was still time! - and asked a friend to help with making the cover picture - I know all those musicians very well! Best thing would be if people are inspired to write more songs themselves.NetherlandsDen Haaghttps://soundcloud.com/phrases/sets/whiskers-ep-pop-psychedelic-singer-songwriter-rock

There is a also a special treat at the end for anyone out there who may be feeling sick of the pandemic. Vocals and guitar are all me, layered in multiple tracks for most recordings. It is still pretty rough around the edges, but I'm quite happy with it. Wilfried HanrathJazz, ElectronicBoxed Set (30 tracks or 100 minutes or higher)Missing the opportunity to play with my band and to perform live, I turned to making solo-pieces...as I love to do reworks, there are a couple in here, also two tracks for my duo-project with my American friend Matt Getchell for The Hauchzart Ensemble. When I start work on a piece, I never know where it will take me - my way of composing is purely intuitive. .... as for the last question...when you release your music, you never know who will listen. I am glad when the usual suspects turn up, and I am glad when I can reach strangers with my music. My music surely is very special, and covers a wide range, so not everybody will follow me on all of my trails...but it all comes out of my sould and is very personal musicGermanyWuppertalhttps://wilfriedhanrath.bandcamp.com/album/my-february-in-lockdown

WXOElectronicEP (5 tracks or 20 minutes)This is an album centered around a new instrument. I purchased a Roland JX-03 second-hand and committed to doing a keyboard album with my ever growing collection of instruments. On "Trip to the Fair" the opening track of Renaissance's Symphonic Prog Album "Scheherezade and Other Stories" Annie Haslam sings of going to the fair and everyone there having disappeared. The Vanishing Carnival represents my interpretation of these words and I have composed the carnival music for Annie's fateful Trip to the Fair. The opening track represents my well-practiced minimalism-inspired symphonic chops and the rest of the album takes you on my journey through improv spoken word, and pop music, before returning to an ostinato reprise. What is going through the minds of those who have disappeared from the fair? Are they calling out for help to be brought back into phase? Do they dance and celebrate in secret?
