| Alex Audette | The title: Synchophreagoraphobicexpialatrocious is a multiple play on words about what the pandemic did to our minds. It caused us to retreat inwards, expand outwards in weird ways, changed social discourse in good and bad ways and caused us to come to some hard truths about our lives. With that in mind, I wrote the lyrics which then gave birth to the theme of the album. After the title track of The Used was done, I knew it was going to be indie-funk-pop as that was the vibe I got (being a bass player). I dug deep into what I was thinking, but perhaps many of the themes I cover was what we were all thinking (hell, I even made fun of Ikea!). | OWWLS | This is definitely some noisy, emotive electronic music, and experimental in the true sense as I did it in collaboration with an AI. I am a visual artist who has been using AI to produce images. I had always wanted to explore the use of artificial intelligence in music, so for April I decided to look at how to compose music with an AI. I was able to use Google's Tensorflow and a Collab Notebook to generate MIDI scores using Python; then I took those MIDI scores and treated them as my own compositions in some music editing software. As electronic music compositions, that meant a lot of choices about sounds and texture.
