I fell you Written by Babys First Ride , on 11-11-2008 16:26 I am seriously looking at having my next CD recorded at a friend studio. He's got the gear and the years of experience to engineer and mix. It may take my 4 months to pay for it, but I won't be pulling my hair out in the process. Like you, I have slave for hours and not gotten the results I was after. Yeah there is better gear out there, but my god the price.
remember back in the old days? Written by angie fights crime , on 11-11-2008 16:32 hell, we used to record 4 track demo's on cassette tapes for christs sake. the hissing and hum were considered "garagerock" staples. now the hum from my basement outlets just annoys the hell out of me. oh well, i'm just happy to get these songs done and out of the way so i can start working on ideas for February.
Furman Written by Babys First Ride , on 11-11-2008 17:16 ...meet AFC, AFC meet Furman. The best 90.00 I ever spent. Furman power conditioner to killz the noise, the hum, balances the power fluctations. I own 3 and every peice of electronics I own goes through a power condition - including the TV and surround sound. I got mine on sale, but if I had to do it again, I'd pay full price if necessary. I firmly beleive its why my old equipment still works.
AHHHH! Written by Babys First Ride , on 11-12-2008 13:51 My goodness, Furman's have gotten crazy expensive. I bought mine several years ago and the top model was about $140.00. Now? 400.00 to 600.00? For a power strip? Dude, this looks a job for Craigslist.
Need a hand? Written by Alternate Modes of Underwater , on 11-15-2008 23:38 I could give it a shot. I've never tried mastering live music before, and I'm not sure what the end result would be.. (I could inadvertently transform it into techno or something.)
