CD Exchange, or Computer Crashes and Brain Farts
Wednesday, 19 March 2008

About March 3rd, my computer suffered an unrecoverable corruption error, whatever the fudge that is.  Despite all attempts to fix it, I had to wipe the hard drive and re-load everything.  And while I thought I'd backed up all my files, I didn't realize my recording software actually stored the audio WAV data in a different location than the Cakewalk files.  Doh!  Luckily, I'd sent off my RPM CD and still have the WAV masters, but now have no ability to go back and tweak the mixes.  Which is probably a good thing.

But anyway, the point of this is that I lost any emails from folks here who had wanted to do the CD exchange thing.  I do have the addresses for the Substars and Endicott Road, but that's all.  I'm pretty sure others had expressed an interest in swapping tunes, but encroaching age and too much fun in my youth has rendered my memory a mere shadow of its former razor-sharp glory.

So if you would like a hard copy of my 2008 RPM submission, please PM me with your mailing address.  I plan on burning and mailing a bunch this weekend.

Of course, if you just want to download, you can go to my web site and do that.  http://www.brokenpromisekeeper.com/downloads.html

Rock on.

Some ideas I use:

1) Multiple hard drives
2) Multiple partitions on each drive
3) Backups
4) In Cakewalk -- understand the audio data folder (in fact, the more you understand how Cakewalk stores ANYthing, the better off you are). And if your version allows it, use PER PROJECT audio folders.

I'm big into risk management, and damage control...
