Woohoo, and a hoowoo!

I am yet delaying official release of my CD once again.
On account of discovering, via this thread, songmastering.com.

For a mere $150.00, I'm getting my CD remastered by someone who's way better at bringing the shine to my recordings than I ever could. Sometimes, if you want a little more professional product, it's worth it to occasionally...just...let...go.

So, right now I'm in the process of "decompressing" my mixes, to give the mastering engineer assigned to my project some breathing room, and I've also needed to resing a couple of my tunes, so as I sound a little less "pitchy". Keeping the same equipment, just to keep it real. I SHOULD be done by the weekend.

Oh, and the husband decided that he wanted to go to Ireland in May. So the duping is going to wait until I've paid for our Eurail passes. That and the Dublin pub crawl...

Great stuff. Jim Bouchard (at songmastering.com) has half of my songs at the moment and I have a few tweaks to do on the rest next weekend.

seems almost too good to be true. a free demo and then a final track for only $25? id be anxious to see what he could do to my stuff.

however, i was a bit nervous about the following section in bold type from his site:

"Just some of the elements that will be addressed are:

Making your song louder and thicker without compromising quality.
Full range equalization to make sure your song is not overly heavy in a particular frequency range.
Mono/phase compatibility.
Adding excitement or life to a dull mix.
Adding a dither when necessary.
In certain situations, adding ambiance or effects to enhance the mood of your creation\"

you get to hear it before you pay. You get to discuss the demo with the engineer. My first demos came back with the "excitement added" and it brought out some recording hiss. We identified this and agreed to redo that with the improved knowledge of how I'd like my mix to sound.

I am very happy with how things are sounding compared to how i mixed and 'released' them. And even happier knowing that the second generation tweaks will bring us a better sound.

But hey. try a demo if you're really interested. You lose nothing.

Have you got your demo back yet, Helen?

with the free demo, the worry about someone playing too much with the track's mood is kind of moot. so i will likely try this.
