I'm at the point now where I'm less interested in writing new songs, and more interested in developing/expanding that which I already have.
I could probably churn out several more songs [and very well might, as I get bored dealing with the same tracks for hours on end], but I want to give myself enough time to flesh out those tracks already on the table.
So far, so good - I've managed to get beginnings, middles, and ends for several of the tracks, and some of the endings really kick butt. (It seems like those songs that tell a story are easier to develop. The improvised pieces are trickier, since you can't really visualize where you want them to go.)
One obstacle I'm hitting now lies in vocals - for many tracks, I had the vocals recorded FIRST. It was great - the lyrics were just spilling out of my head uncontrollably. However, I find that 99% of the time, it's easier to create music, and then sing over it, than it is to sing first, and then create music for it.
While I'm able to create music for the vocal tracks, it's time-consuming, to say the least, and with 14 days left, time is rapidly dwindling.
