Just about to head down to Connecticut to record! (Thanks, Craig). Yes, I'm terrified. I've planned 9 total tracks, and only finished writing one just this morning. There's another that needs major work on the setting...it's really not ready for prime time. And a final one that needs more work on the wording of the verses. Why couldn't RPM have taken place in a 31-day month?
Well, I've always felt that the last minute is there for a reason. Thank God for the 2 1/2 hour drive and the handheld cassette player; maybe some of this will work itself out on the road. Other factors. I've never recorded before, except through the board once when playing out live, and that required absolutely no attention from me. Even though this recording will be pretty simple, I'm intimidated. I'm no gearhead. Also, I'm stupid; at the WSCA fundraiser dance last night, I shook my booty like mad until midnight with the radio station peeps, and roughed up my throat hollering "G-L-O-R-I-A!" along with the band. Come on; I should know better. So, a little Emergen-C in the water bottle to recover with, and I'm on the road. I gather we're going to get a few rough takes tonight and then spend most of tomorrow recording. Wish me luck. I'll post when I get back...and I should be returning with a finished product on Tuesday, such as it is. In spite of the struggle with perfectionism, it's still a great, fun projec |
