There's been no news for a couple of days now, and the simple reason as
to why is that nothing much has actually happened. I spent most of the
weekend recovering from a head cold and really didn't start recording
anything until yesterday evening. And that was more like experimenting
with the setup, to make it work right with the new external sound card.
It sorta works now, but with the monitoring routed through the
Cubase program and back, which means an 11 ms latency that is quite
noticable. Not ideal but at least workable. So now I guess I gotta get
organized and start thinking about exactly what I'm going to put down
for each track, and be rigorous about the schedule. Time is getting
short if I'm to finish ten songs within this month, so whenever I'm in
the studio I really need to be focused and efficient.
I got a
tip from a friend of mine too about my setup, to maybe get rid of the
latency problem. I'll try that tonight. It's about using the auxiliary
send from the microphone channel as output from the mixer to the sound
card instead of using the mains out likeI 'm doing now. If I then activate
the "2trk to mix"-button on the mixer I should be able to hear the
microphone input directly from the mixer instead of routing it through
the computer and back. Well, here's hoping it'll work!
