So - any tricks from the professionals on how to perfectly time vocals to music and/or vocals to chorused vocals?

I've always had a heck of a time getting it right.

Sadly, my voice isn't bad, but the timing always kills me.

I\'m no pro (certainly not when it comes to vocals) but if you\'re having problems I\'d reckon treating it like any other instrument would be the best bet.
Do some vocal excercises involving nothing but rhythm. Use a metronome and sing some plain, staccato \'ahs\' on the beat. Treat it like trying to get the muscle memory as a drummer or something.
Then maybe pick some particularly rhythmic/syncopated songs.

you can always use a click track paced to your music for recording vocals. it's a little irritating if you do a bunch of takes, but it works.

Most Digital Audio Workstation would give you the ability to move to transients in your recorded vocal file and make divisions of the larger file that could then be moved forward/back to line up with the music, drums, or other vocal parts.

If it is a latency issue and all of the vocal is slow/fast you could probably trim a bit of the silent section in the beginning of the file and nudge it forward/back to match the rest of the prior content.

Doug: Yeah, that's typically what I do, but it's tedious. The other thing is I generally hate using Adobe Audition for multitrack fiddling about, since I start to OCD badly when doing this.

Most of my songs are arranged in Jeskola Buzz - I use Adobe just for some basic fine-tuning at the end. I'm probably going to have to do this for RPM - there won't be time to play too much with Adobe in multitrack mode.
