I am happy to report that I have been able to find gainful employment again!  For those who are following the continuing story I was laid off the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (ugh!), but I have found a position at a local manufacturing company in their purchasing department.  This is a temporary position, with a strong posibility of being hired on permanently.  The salary is barely enough, but it's better than waiting for the unemployment checks to start coming in.  And I'll have to go without health insurance for awhile.  As with everything else, there are tradeoffs.  I'll begin drawing a paycheck, but Santa will make a rather abbreviated stop at our house this Christmas.

All in all I rate this event under the heading of "better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick".  It's not the position I wanted, but I'll take what I can get right now.  And it may turn into something good later on.

If anyone has watched reruns of the old Dick Van Dyke Show, one of the things Rob and Laura did was invent a holiday called "no holiday in particular", where they gave each other a gift for no reason.  I think our household will be doing that some time in April or May.  So "happy no holiday in particular!".
