It's Saturday afternoon, and it's just too doggone cold to do yardwork, and I'm trying to figure out the bills without going insane or broke or both. I'd like to say THANK YOU to all the artists who have linked up with me as friends. I'm listening to the jukebox on the RPM07 site, and I just heard "Another Sunny Day In Baghdad", which is comical and sad at the same time. I won't jump on my soapbox here and prognosticate about the war, but suffice it to say I am not a fan of it. Or our esteemed Chief Executive. Enough said. Musically, I've been writing about one or two songs a week since the challenge, one of which is called "Waitin' On The Mail", which I posted on the sample engine. I have traded CD's with about a dozen RPM participants, and I love most of the music I've received.
There's an event that's been building and I feel a song coming from it, but I'm not sure I'm ready to write it yet. I have one sibling, an older brother, and he was just diagnosed with lung cancer. He's been a smoker since his teens, and I'm not surprised at the diagnosis. I don't get along with my older brother, either. He was a bully to me when we were growing up, and he hasn't lost that mentality growing older, either. While he doesn't physically bully people, he's been known to browbeat them. He works for himself, which is good, because no one else will employ him. He thinks he knows everything, and treats most other people as lesser beings, if he acknowledges them at all. I barely register. I'll post a song called "Younger Brother" some time so you can tell how I feel. The line of that song that best describes him says, in essence, that he looks at people like he's buying a car. "What can you do for me?" You know the type. I feel some lyrics building in me, but I'm going to let it percolate awhile before I put anything down.
Since tomorrow is Easter, our entire family will be busy with church things, so I'm going to enjoy the rest of my Saturday while I still can.
Thanks for stopping by for a read. ER
