Since it has been snowing and raining ice since last night, I have the time to complete a real blog entry and not have to hide it from my boss.

I have a question: if a song is created using samples, does it qualify for this challenge? I ask because, for some time, I have been using a software program and samples to create most of my music. Since I don't have the funds to afford instruments or recording equipment, using samples (loops) helps me to write music without draining my wallet. The lyrics are mine, and the vocals are mine (including harmonies), and the instruments I use are real (not synthesized).

I'm just a guy on the Internet, but what you describe would qualify as a song in my book...you wouldn't be the first person to use samples, as evidenced by the Sample Engine on this site...

In any case, I doubt the Song Police will come after you, so you'll be fine doing whatever suits your style and the tools you have.

and i think samples in a software program have clearance to be used 'cause otherwise what is the point of giving you them if no-one can here them?? ;)

Thats about 5x advanced as us.
We do no touch ups. We record with a 16 dollar microphone and a free trial recorder program.
We use electronic drums, a keyboard and a dulcimer.
Thats all we got...
