Portsmouth is proud to be home to RPM Global HQ (we actually run it out of the little hut pictured at right). Begun in 2006 as a community artistic challenge issued by The Wire, the area's arts & culture alt-weekly, the RPM Challenge was so much fun that we decided to bring it to the rest of the world, too, and the result has been even MO RE fun!
Portsmouth, NH and the greater Seacoast area has a rich and diverse pool of musical talent, and during the otherwise-useless month of February it is an honor and a priviledge to see them dig in to new musical experiments and collaborations that they might not get around to otherwise. RPM was born, first and foremost, as a way of celebrating the music and musicians that we have here, and that spirit of celebration carries through at our annual Portsmouth RPM Listening Party, where musicians of all stripes come together to meet each other, network, scheme and celebrate. |
