Welcome to the far east of the western world. A place where "New Founde Land" contains the oldest city* in North America.
Centuries ago, the folk music traditions of the Irish, English, and Scottish hit the rock, and they've helped bring us through many a cold, stormy, snow-filled February ever since.
Which is why the RPM Challenge is perfect for us.
For a province of just over a half a million, we've got a huge population of musicians, a huge populations of music fans, and some of the dreariest, shittiest Februaries imaginable. Heck, most of the sidewalks are blocked with snow for the entire 28 days anyway, what's the use leaving your house when you could be recording an album with your friends instead?
Forget inspiration, you’ve got a deadline. So get to it.
(*Quebec City may say different, however.)

One day, 18 hours, 33 minutes.
That’s how long it would take you to listen to all the music recorded by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians as part of 2009’s RPM Challenge.
Every February, The Scope dares people across the province to set aside their feelings of musical inadequacy, loosen up their schedules, and get down to writing and recording a full album of original music in the coldest month in our winter.
This year, 70 local bands came through, and there’s some really, really good stuff in there.
