Songs 9 & 10
(Wednesday, 06 August 2008) Written by Honeycomb

After a brief hiatus and my muse going on holiday for a while, I now have tracks 9 and 10 written for my upcoming album (which has been delayed until October).

First up is "Never Again Shall We" which is a song about how I voted for Tony Blair back in 1997 and feel that I was hoodwinked along with many others.

Second is entitled "Stress" and was written after I'd had a particularly bad week at work.

As these are demos the usual caveats apply regarding singing, performance, mixing etc.

EDIT : Forgot to say that they're on my profile here - Honeycomb

Never Again Shall We

You, take a long look inside

And find the hole where you once held pride

Between the left and the right hand side

Where the replacement now resides

Forget the self-deprecation

Prepare your fortifications

Defend yourself though you know you lied

You, think over what was discussed

You said what mattered the most was trust

Crumbled away leaving only dust

And the emotion returned's disgust

You speak of extermination

And economic migration

Yet you claim that you're fair and just

Chorus

Oh how we fell for all the lies you told

Left out in the cold with no expectancy

We all shout together

Never again shall we

You, you think we're set in our ways

And offer up condescending praise

Yet at the top old tie always stays

And the other half always pays

Not even slight hesitation

Ignore increased degradation

As Kier Hardie spins in his grave

From the back the dissenters came

They threw the bodies out but not the names

But they'll see victory all the same

Stress

When the shadows start to fall

Is when the bugle starts to call

With your back against the wall

You strive to rise against it all

And when you think that its all lost

And it's time to count the cost

Is when the barriers fall, the lights turn on

And the lungs breath another reprieve

Chorus

This is the time to let yourself go

This is the time to watch yourself grow

This is the time to appreciate everything

This is the time to let yourself go

This is the time to watch yourself grow

This is the time to appreciate everything

And more

When there is no sense to see

You gain a foothold on the tree

With the giving always free

You learn to take just what you need

And when you think that its all lost

And it's time to count the cost

Is when the barriers fall, the lights turn on

And the lungs breath another reprieve
