No, its not an alien adventure into drug culture. It a musicians site, like this one, that was originally created for Acid users or other Sonic Foundry (Now Sony) music creation software users. There are some parts of the site that are only acessible if you are a user of one of thier softwares. Since, i have owned several over the years, it really wasn't an issue for me.
They have this thing called battling. You down load a sample pack with 8 loops in it. You pick an opponent, set a date and time, and get to mixing. The rules are fairly straight forward - basically create a song with the loops from the sample pack only. No live instruments. You post it and its judged by your peers as to which one they liked better. I did one of those and it was tougher than I that it was going to be. The samples were so random, there was no really easy path. But that's the point - can you make cake from crap. We started one over the weekend. We'll see how it turns out.
