CD Update

Hello, everyone!
Sorry I missed all the parties. I wanted to go to the one in the Bay Area, but lack of finances prevented me from going over "The Hill" as they say here. I trust everyone had a great time.
Anyway, I had some comments in my last blog entry about the mastering service I used (thanks to the nice folks in the forum), so I thought I would reply here with an update on the service used.
Gumbo Stu is correct. You get the opportunity to listen to your recordings after they master them and they will offer to redo the job for you if you find something in the mastered wave file that isn't quite working for you - if you're like me and discovered that the mastering process brought nasty little artifacts in my initial mixes that needed to be corrected - by me.
Anyway, I think I only had 2 songs that I needed to remix and send back for remastering. The person who did the work for me was Jim Maxon, and he did a fantastic job. Everything sounded crystal clear and professional. The only thing that bothered me was that the background noise was brought to the forefront a little too much, but I attribute this more to the equipment I was using, rather than anything else. I'm not going to pretend that it was a professional production in a $500.00 per hour recording studio. :)
You can hear some of the results on my Myspace page, and while you're there, you'll also note that I put a Soundclick player on the profile. Clicking on that will take you to my Soundclick page , where you can (for right now) download the remastered songs from this CD for free. I'd suggest hurrying, as once this stuff goes on to ITunes (I'm seeing maybe mid to late April now), I'll be blocking access and charging per download (BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!).
I may also, for a bit, have a zip file available where folks can download all the songs. Again, it will all depend on whether or not all the mastering happens in the time frame that I expect.
Then, after all that, I can take advantage of that massive review thread. :) Views: 597
