So last night I waltzed into Second Life for the third time to try and sort out my audio options (I couldn't hear any music previously, which is kind of essential for today's listening party). Anyway, so I followed Fence Flatley's instructions and then took myself off to a bar (Bushy Beard's, or something) where they were playing live music to test it out.
And oh my goodness, my socks flew off.
I ended up staying there for over an hour marvelling at this avatar with the voice of a real man (Kevin something), and guitar strumming hands of wonderfulness. From what I could tell, he was playing all cover versions but with a really original slant on everything. It was actually very cool. A bit like listening to the radio and watching a cartoon that somehow corresponds with what you're hearing (nobody was dancing in time though). Was pretty freaky when he started interacting with the "audience" and mentioned my avatar's name. It was also the only time I've been in SL without being insulted or propositioned (and the locals of SL have made an art of doing both at the same time). It probably wouldn't have been so compelling if the music hadn't been live, but...dare I say it? It did feel as though I was out for the night...in my pyjamas.
