Shagbark is a Portsmouth NH based rock band. The four piece unit is comprised of Mickey Blanchette-vocals, Chip Brindamour-bass, tuba and vocals, Spidy-guitar, and Gary Gemmiti-drums. Mickey and Chip have been musical partners since the early nineties when they were part of the local alternative funk circus known as Choosy Mom's Funky Dance Carnival. CMFDC featured many on stage performers such as dancers, artists, jugglers and an ironing mom accompanying the funky groove which often featured horns and multiple background vocals. Shagbark carries on the tradition of a funky dance-able groove but with a more streamlined approach and no sideshow. The music features the intelligent, insightful lyrics of Mickey Blanchette, the inspired guitar playing of Spidy, and a rock solid groove from rhythm section Brindamour and Gemmiti. Shagbark participated in The RPM Challenge 2006 and was the first participating artist or group to actually release the fruits of their labor. The ten song CD entitled "RPM" was released on March 30th at The Press Room in Portsmouth NH. The disc is available for sale at Bull Moose Music in Portsmouth or at Shagbark shows. (Of course, if you think you can get us a gig we will give you one!) Shagbark's next performance is Friday January 26th at The Press Room in Portsmouth.

Mickey can also be seen at many area beat night events and in an upcoming play that he will produce and co-wrote with Chris Elliot at the Players Ring in Portsmouth.

Chip and Spidy are also part of The Mighty Jumbo Circus Peanuts.

Gary Gemmiti can be seen every Tuesday at the Press Room with Larry Garland and River City Jazz, as part of Sharon Jones' band, and touring internationally with Mighty Sam Mclain.
