I find as the end approaches during sessions there is almost an adrenaline rush, knowing there is a deadline and that time is of the essence here. Hmmm, cool. I have no doubt I will finish, barring any disasters, but the inexorable march of time (hear "Westward") makes the process immediate and edgy.
I hope to have the last three songs by the weekend's end, and use the rest of next week to tie up loose ends. I finally figured out how to edit audio in Logic, so I'm cutting and pasting the sacred drum recordings I have from friend Phil to piece together the rhythm foundation for "What is Life?". My son promises he will come by Sat. and record a drumzandbass song using some of the same drum recordings. And yesterday at work wrote a blues song (casually ripping off the lick and meter from "Walkin' Blues") called, appropriately "Runnin' Outta Time". Here's a verse sample:
Woke up again this mornin' I was surprised to see
That I was still breathing And you were still here with me
But now I'm runnin' outta time That's what the devil said to me
He said you better get busy 'Cos nothin' in this world is free
