Would you rather -

(a) submit a cd that is largely vile and horribly mixed, and possibly embarrassing, or...

(b) fail?

a)...
failure is not (really) an option!
in all seriousness though, even if the cd is embarrassing its at least an achievement - you've got nothing to gain by taking the easy way out
keep at it!

best of luck! :)

There is always option(c) All Of The Above

I'm only half joking. 'Failure' is not meeting the challenge.
What is your challenge right, now? Inner demons? Get them to write a song. Production bafflement? ASk for advice on the forums. Not enough songs? Wait for inspiration NO!! write a song called "I need to run about" from a chord you don't ever start with. Ten minutes. GO! change it later

I'm listening to 'Ode to myself' as I write, and I think you're panicking rather than clearly defining practical steps.

Practical Info 1. You don't have to have your music on the BIG Jukebox. You can submit a CD and request it not be uploaded. You don't have to make more than one copy. You don't have to let ANYONE ELSE EVER LISTEN TO IT EVER AGAIN. This can be heartening at times. especially while we're mixing.

Practical Info2 'Ode To Myself' has finished and I want the next song. This is A SIGN!! that you're doing fine.

What are you trying to measure yourself against? Move it back a little. It's a goal, not a password.

WHY ISN'T YOUR NEXT TRACK PLAYING grrr goes to other page and kicks tiny jukebox

bah! Hairpin doesn't want to load. Premonition, then. That's better. Good, too. Lovely harmonies. Guitar more polished, too. Excellent, even.

I\'m going to submit whatever I\'ve got and then sort it out at leisure (whenever that is!)

Think nanowrimo attitude!

You can always rework tracks and create a better mix after February. People want to know what you did this month, and so I think you should submit the work... and then improve upon it next month.

I already know there are a few things I will likely change about the album after I have actually completed all the tracks... if that happens in February, great. If not... I have something to do in March.

.. just send it.

Look at it this way - none of ours won't be works of sonic perfection either. =)

I'm reading what I wrote, and it's pretty grammatically painful.

I probably already did a) last year, this year is probably better but will still probably be kind of rough. From what I hear on the sample engine, you\'re doing fine. It\'s about the songs, not sonic perfection. If they\'re good, they\'ll stand on their own. Besides, you never know if you just don\'t go ahead and do it. I\'ve always thought of regret as being worse than failure to do something like this.
