Glorify Frederick E. Slidepole and/or the Bugs Who Took Over The World
(Sunday, 17 February 2008) Written by Frederick E. Slidepole and The Bugs Who Took Over

Attention: Doomed races of Earth

RPM '07 champions (and your future overlords) Frederick E. Slidepole and the Bugs Who Took Over The World will not be creating an album this year.  In their temporary absence, it is up to you to attempt to fill the void whilst simultaneously earning a chance to save yourselves from otherwise certain peril.

Here's how:

Option 1: Write and record a song extolling the virtues of Frederick E. Slidepole and/or The Bugs Who Took Over The World.  It will be judged.

  • If Frederick Slidepole likes it, you will be spared, joining the ranks of Joshua Wentz who betrayed humanity by collaborating with Frederick on the song "On Your Left (You'll Notice Bugs Taking Over The World)" last year. For this, Mr. Wentz shall be spared and awarded a terrible job lifting heavy boxes for as long as he lives. That sounds bad, but considers the alternative: (cf.  "Cnidophobic to the Max")
  • If Frederick is not impressed (more than likely for not grovelling hard enough), you will still be granted mercy for one year and one day simply for your effort. After such time, you must find some other means of achieving safety for when the coup d'splat begins.

Option 2: If you are already certain you cannot be awarded lifelong amnesty as described above, you may still secure yourself for one year and one day by dedicating one of your current RPM songs to FESATBWTOTW by simply naming either Frederick E. Slidepole or The Bugs Who Took Over The World in your song title.

The chosen one:
The writer of Frederick's favourite song submitted will be awarded an autographed copy of the CD, Meet the Beetles and the Aphids and the Daddy Long Legs and the Mosquitoes and the Dragonflies and the Fruit Flies and the Deer Ticks and the Carpenter Ants and the Cicadas and all of their Friends.  This one-of-a-kind album will also contain a bonus track!! recorded exclusively for the winner.  It will not be publicly released.  It will be for the chosen one, after all.

The scorned one:
The writer of Frederick's most despised song will be visited by a plague of locusts and also be the subject of his ire in at least one song during RPM Challenge '09.

Post your songs in this forum thread: Glorify Frederick E. Slidepole Here.  If you have any questions, Mr. Slidepole might answer them there. Or, the asker may be smitten. Possibly both.
