Slight reprieve
(Friday, 24 August 2007) Written by Endicott Road

For those of you who have read my blob post about the possibility that I would lose my job, let me give you an update.

I learned yesterday that there won't be any terminations right away.  The sale of this company to another won't close until at least the end of September, and the folks from the new owners say they'll take "two to four months" to examine how the business is done, and how they can leverage this company's way of doing business to improve their own.  What that means for the people here, including me, is unknown.  They could decide to start layoffs in December, or January, or some time after that.  I don't know know and they're not saying.  As if I wasn't insecure enough! LOL

My wife, who has a pretty strong religious faith, thinks the good Lord will provide, and isn't too worried about it.  I'm more of the mind that the good Lord helps those who help themselves, so I don't think I'll be waiting too long for the ax to fall.  Gee, this also might sound like grist for a good song.
