Took the plunge
(Tuesday, 06 March 2007) Written by Endicott Road

Last night I took the plunge and actually signed up for MySpace.  My artist name there is still the same, Endicott Road, and I uploaded 4 songs.  All are available for listen and/or download.  There are no pictures or notes or other items to pretty up the site.  I'll be doing that over the next few days.  Hey, I'm new at this.

I did listen and download some folks music on MySpace, and, while I can't be specific, I did like most of what I heard.  Stop by for a listen if you get a moment.

BTW - I didn't mention it, but I have been posting to AcidPlanet.com for several years under the same artist name, so feel free to stop by there if you get the notion.  I have some 40 songs posted there.

Now to my MP3 player and it's POS battery, to listen to some great music I downloaded.  Love it!

Regards.

 1 why myspace?

can you (or anybody) tell me why you'd set up a myspace page with all the limitations I read about when you can simply do your own website and post anything? I'm old and confused

Myspace for good or bad is where the music scene currently resides.
Myspace is ugly for sure but it is easy to update and is actually pretty cool for networking. I have heard that some clubs actually book based on the number of myspace friends you have.
So... please add us.

MySpace is a chaotic shambles, and it's actually a bad place for "the scene" to be- it strips artists of their character and uniqueness. Not surprising that a website devoted to teenagers and pedos would do that- teens notoriously love conformity, especially in the guise of NON conformity.

I still think that artists are better off having their own site. If you must have a blank MySpace page with a link to your own page, fine- but it's a travesty that people consider MySpace a legitimate tool.

plus, myspace is free.
and if you don't know anything about designing a website, it helps until you can find someone.

Who has time to manage or maintain their own website these days? There is almost no reason anymore.
 6 I did it because

I am no good at designing and/or maintaining a website. I know nothing about it. And, like Tuesday said, MySpace is free. On my budget, free is good. Also, a number of artists who did the RPM thing also are on MySpace. I also did it so that I could listen to some other's music. I agree that MySpace has it's faults. Last night, when I signed off, I got a flashplay movie about some hot babe wanting to chat with me. Forgive me, but it looked like an ad for the online version of a 900 porn service.
Nonetheless, I did it for a good musical reason.
