Legal Advice for a Compilation

I'm putting together a compilation of songs written and performed by friends and associated acts. What I'm looking for a simple document that states that I am paying for the creation and distirbution of the CDs and that profit to them will only occur at such time that all expenses are paid. Each act will be entitled to a different percent of the any profits (of which I doubt their will be any) so the language needs to be flexible enough. So, does anyone have anything they want to share?

If you just write it up yourself. Don't feel like you need to write something in "legalese" to make it more contract-y. When I wrote up the contract for my record label I made sure it could be understood by all.

Since you're presenting a simple proposal, it should be easy to make it work.

If you need a book to look at for the basics, I suggest "This Business of Music", a book that I find very helpful very often:
