RPM Challenge Summer (EP) Edition
(Tuesday, 23 June 2009) Written by Robert Parker   (See blogs)

Thinking about pretending that July is February and working on a mini-RPM project.  Maybe 6 songs or 20 minutes or so.

Hopefully some one much more ambitious than I will read this bloggy post and start a movement that leads to a slew of RPM people working on an EP next month.

Go for it!

Well, watch out, I might be one of your converts...especially since I wasn't able to get an album done this year. I feel so guilty!...lol. Sometimes you can't get a break.

And the "EP" format seems to work well for me anyway. Even the final edition (the one I give out, post on my sites, etc. after taking out some of the not-so-great songs) of my 2008 album is a 5-song EP edition. And a little album I did last summer was also a 5-song EP. Someone else can maybe work out the theory on why the format works so well.

So if you do it, good luck and maybe I'll see you at the finish line, so to speak.

My EP will be done in June, but technically released in July.

I set myself the challenge to make a summer-EP of six songs before june the 5th and already missed that deadline. So july the 15th is now my new deadline. (I am working on it thought. I started going for a simple coherent acoustic thing but then I bought an analogue synth cheap through internet and some other new toys and now the sound is all over the place again. Note to myself : Keep it simple!)

I'm listening to your tunes on Alonetone right now... digging them so far, I'll be looking forward to what you come up with for July!

I'm also trying to do something for July, we'll see how much I get done...
