Complimation listening issue
(Monday, 02 June 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
I'm trying to listen (at work) to the complimations that Mick has put up so that I can vote.  The problem is that after about two songs Internet explorer experiences a problem and has to close.  Any ideas of how to fix this?? Irritating to say the least.  OZ

Just a Little Juice
(Saturday, 12 April 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Saturday morning have always been conducive to my muse for some reason.  I think I've written or started more songs on Saturday morning than any other day.  I was playing around with the Bm chord and came up with a nice progression with it and then some words starting coming with a melody and then I came up with the chord progression for the chorus.  So 20 minutes or so of work and I've got a decent song going.  I've got the three verses written.  No words for the chorus yet, I think this one w... Ahhhhhhh
(Saturday, 15 March 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Well yesterday I broke down and sent another copy of Geezer to RPM. I get home from work and there is an email from RPM stating that they have worked through all the recieved CDs and to check and see if mine was among those at the bottom of the barrel.  And yes, lo and behold, Geezer has been recieved, on the 5th of March yet!  To say I feel better is an understatement!  Heres a hope and a prayer for all of those whose CDs have not arrived yet. Hang in there!  Hey, send another copy, Murphy's... (109 more chars)

(Sunday, 09 March 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
I sent in the two projects I did to gether in the same package.  I did not figure it would be a big deal. The powers that be have logged in Oz2 as being received but have not logged in Geezer as being recieved. It has to be there because I sent it in the same package.  So, hey RPM guys could you check around for it?  I know, I know ya'll are busy, just when you get a chance.  Thanks,  OZ

Last.fm
(Saturday, 08 March 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Ok, maybe I'm being a Lemming, but after all the posts about Last.fm I thought I would try it.  So some selections from our RPM 07 and the RPM 08 albums Highway 59 and Geezer are up on Last.fm under Osborne and Hutchison.  We'll see how it goes.  It was pretty easy to do.  It took about an hour to get it all done and that was loading 7 songs.  Oz

The Stats
(Sunday, 02 March 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Well just looling at the participant list of who signed up versus who finished.  The numbers are: For 2008, 2,431 signed up, 600 listed as finished (so far).  That would be a 25% completion rate.   In 2007, if I recall correctly, 2,502 signed up and 870 finished, which is a 32% completetion rate.  Amazing isn't it?    Oz

The RPM of it all..
(Thursday, 28 February 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Ok, Geezer is almost done.  I got four tracks from BK tonight and I must say I most impressed with my bandmates efforts.  I've got at least five songs to put down.  So we will have at least 10 songs for the album.  We are going for the songwriter/guitarist feel on this one.  Very miminal production except for one or two songs.  I was wondering if we were going to be able to pull this one off after BK doing his solo album (Sometimes) and me doing the one with my son (Oz Squared).  BK got the flu... I haven't started on the tracks for Geezer, still working on the songs for Oz Squared with my son.  My bandmate for Geezer, BK, has finished his album 'Sometimes' and will start on tracks for Geezer.    I hope to join him in his endeavors by this weekend.   Time will tell.  I did the tracks for 'Can You Hear Me Lord' tonight.  Got the vocals, bass, drums, and acoustic guitar done.  My son put on an electric rhythm and he will add a bit of lead tomorrow.  We will also finish up the first track '... John and Paul
(Tuesday, 29 January 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Man this site is addicting!  I've read lots of post about the various equipment everyone has, mics, 8 track recorders, guitars, flutes, pianos, midi, etc. etc...  It makes me think about the Beatles.  Their first album (Please Please Me) was recorded in 12 hours with only two track tape.  It's still in print today 45 years later, amazing.  A few years later Paul and John came into the studio for some mundane things and Paul asked John since they were in the studio why not record a song.  John h... I hope my enthusiasim comes back, cause I'm sorta blase about the challenge at the moment.  At the moment I remember more of the irritations of last year than the joys.  Maybe I just need better sleep than what I've been getting of late.    I hope it's a better day.  Enjoy your last muscially stress free week for at least a month!  Oz out.

A life done and a Song Written
(Sunday, 20 January 2008) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Amazing how the same chord you've played a thousand times can sound different and evoke a path to follow.  I restrung my old 335 yesterday and picked it up and tuned it.  I was just playing around, didn't even have it plugged in.  I was strumming some chords starting with G and was playing a progression I probably have played before but now in a different way.  Of course life has a way of sending you on tangents.  My wife's brother-in-law accidently shot himself and died last night.  So, to say... Purevolume?
(Monday, 24 September 2007) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
Has anyone had any experience with the Purevolume site?  It's sort of the Godfather of the Virb site.  They appear to very similar in design and functionality.  Though the purevolume site seems to have the higher octane of the two for hyping both bands and music.  The highvolume site also appears to have the option of a 'premium service' to get your music promoted.   Any thoughts anyone?  Oz

Virb Song Charts
(Monday, 13 August 2007) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
After looking over the music charts on the virb main music page, the total plays for the top 20 artists did not match thier ranking on the chart.  I emailed virb and asked what the deal was.  They emailed back in 24 hours and said rankings were based on the number of plays for a SINGLE song.  So, to get on the charts we need to play a single song of each of the albums A LOT.  So just pick a song you like, on one of the virb CDS and wear the groove out.  Email your friends and ask them to wear ... Calling the RPM family!!!  Please play the songs on the RPM albums that Mick has put up thus far.  Links are on the 'Night Off' blog.  Besides there being great music on these albums and you should listen for that alone, if we get enough plays, about 3000 should do it, it will put us on the music chart at Virb.  That should get the RPM family more exposure and a rising tide lifts all boats.  I've also emailed Virb to see if they will feature the RPM CDs and our story on the main Virb page.  The... Inspired by a Blog Comment from Endicott Road
(Saturday, 10 March 2007) Written by Osborne and Hutchison
My bandmate BK had blogged about us getting together and beginning a new song.  He was talking about how the RPM process had really inspired him to find the time to write and play music.  Endicott Road had commented on how ideas kept coming to him even with the challenge over and that he wish he had become a 'professional writer rather than a cubical prairie dog'.  I thought, WOW, what a great title for a song 'Cubical Praire Dog'.  So, I wrote one with that title.
