08 Album Names & Art - 2008/05/21 18:13 I recall I had very little to do with this discussion last year other then be the mule. Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/05/22 04:00 Well, y'know our vote for #8 just HAS to be:

Other

So, we're sentimental.

Besides, I'd love to see what Joshua does with that.

kirk (& wendy), aka an-other cultural landslide

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/05/22 20:47 I have always wanted CDs called:

"The Romans Had Feelings Too"
"My One Phone Call"
"Primitive Methods"
"Let's Get Dirty"

But that's just me...

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/06/15 13:36 Suggestion for Album 2: Alt / Indie / Pop

"Altitudes"
or, perhaps,
"Alt Etudes"

While the classical étude is a musical study piece, composed with the intent of practicing a specific technical skill (of an instrument), maybe the "Alt Etude" songs could be said to serve the purpose of honing the artists' album making skills?

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/06/18 16:42 I wish I could contribute something more helpful than calling #5 "Sine of the Times"

(edited) Okay: "Ex Machina"

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/06/19 23:00 Whenever I am down in NYC I always go to my favorite record store in the east village called "Other Music"

so my vote for disc 8 is going to have to go along with ACL and "OTHER".

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/06/27 21:27 Are we voting on disks titles or are we still taking suggestions? Checked the suggestions for each category and the titles all sound great to me. Just checking.

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/07/14 22:19 We're going to be making disks next month but we still need names.

Time to figure this out or I can just do it myself. Up to you all. (That's not Texas y'a'll the three syllable form is only used at the beginning of a sentence as in "Y'a'll pick the names for these here disks".)

Mick - any info on voting for disks 3 & 4? Or do we still need more cuts.

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/08/19 22:48 These are coming along quite well... I'll have all covers done by the end of the night, but I thought I'd show you the first three I've completed. Of course, there's still much to do for the rest of the packaging. Once I have definitive track lists and such I'll be able to compose the rest of the panels.

A bit about the process: My girlfriend and I basically did some artistic improv the other night. I got out all of the media I had in the house, and a bunch of cardboard panels. I printed the list of album titles, and asked her to pick a number. Then for 30 minutes, we each created a piece of art based on the title. After that, I photographed all of the pieces in macro and used the photos to create the album artwork.

So, here's where it's going, more to come.

2. Enjoy broccoli.
3. Balance my damn check book.

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/08/20 02:58 Artwork looks great!!!

One note: One of Last year's CDs had "Blue on Blue" writing for the song titles, so it was hard to read. I can't find the one I am talking about -- they must be in the car!
