08 Album Names & Art - 2008/05/21 18:13I recall I had very little to do with this discussion last year other then be the mule. So, Let me start it again this year, it seems to have a life of it's own. The art director this year is Joshua Wentz -- visual ideas or volunteers to him. While the classical étude is a musical study piece, composed with the intent of practicing a specific technical skill (of an instrument), maybe the "Alt Etude" songs could be said to serve the purpose of honing the artists' album making skills?

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/06/19 23:00Whenever I am down in NYC I always go to my favorite record store in the east village called "Other Music"
so my vote for disc 8 is going to have to go along with ACL and "OTHER".

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/06/27 21:27Are we voting on disks titles or are we still taking suggestions? Checked the suggestions for each category and the titles all sound great to me. Just checking.

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/07/14 22:19We're going to be making disks next month but we still need names.
Time to figure this out or I can just do it myself. Up to you all. (That's not Texas y'a'll the three syllable form is only used at the beginning of a sentence as in "Y'a'll pick the names for these here disks".)

8. Other (what else do you think we would have picked?)

Re:08 Album Names & Art - 2008/08/19 22:48These are coming along quite well... I'll have all covers done by the end of the night, but I thought I'd show you the first three I've completed. Of course, there's still much to do for the rest of the packaging. Once I have definitive track lists and such I'll be able to compose the rest of the panels.
A bit about the process: My girlfriend and I basically did some artistic improv the other night. I got out all of the media I had in the house, and a bunch of cardboard panels. I printed the list of album titles, and asked her to pick a number. Then for 30 minutes, we each created a piece of art based on the title. After that, I photographed all of the pieces in macro and used the photos to create the album artwork.
So, here's where it's going, more to come.

One note: One of Last year's CDs had "Blue on Blue" writing for the song titles, so it was hard to read. I can't find the one I am talking about -- they must be in the car!
