Re:Got my stuff on iTunes! Whoo-hoo! - 2008/05/15 05:34 What service did you go through with that?

I worked with TuneCore to put up the EP that I completed immediately prior to this year's RPM, and they completely hosed it. For some reason all of my songs were cut off at 45 seconds. Their tech support was extremely slow and wanted to resort to all kinds of ridiculous alternative approaches (such as me emailing them the MP3s... and then sending them a CD of the MP3s) instead of just letting me friggin' UPLOAD them again.

It took several months (granted, I wasn't too aggressive about it because I was too busy) but I finally got them to at least TAKE DOWN the screwed-up tracks.

So... in the end, that explains why I'm NOT up on iTunes at the moment. I need to find a better alternative.

Re:Got my stuff on iTunes! Whoo-hoo! - 2008/05/15 16:37 I've got Oz Squared up on Itunes as well. I went through CDbaby. It was easy to do and it was up very quickly. I mainly did it for my son Alan, who thought it was way cool to have the CD on Itunes. If (that is a big IF) we get any sales the proceeds will go to his college fund or a new amp . He turned 15 this past Saturday, it seemed just yesterday he was five

I went through TuneCore to get my stuff out there and I had a great experience. I had a couple of questions that I fired off to support before uploading and the responses were prompt and informative. The tracks ended up at the stores I selected before the projected go-live date and I'm very happy with the service I personally had.

Re:Got my stuff on iTunes! Whoo-hoo! - 2008/05/16 01:16 Awright, Mr. K! I'll check it out.
My 1st album is on iTunes:
Texas Tonefreak
When I set it up on cdbaby ($35, I think it was) I chose digital distribution, so it ended up on iTunes, eMusic (which is where I buy alot of music) and other outlets. So far the sales have about paid for the setup, but at least it's out there.

I'd be interested to know how you went directly to iTunes, Mr. K (you still there?). May have to check out Tunecore for the next non-RPM album.

peace yawl.

Re:Got my stuff on iTunes! Whoo-hoo! - 2008/05/16 09:41 Just doing a random sampling of people's stuff, it seems like TuneCore customers are being uploaded to the iTunes Plus program (higher bitrate, no DRM), whereas CD Baby customers aren't (lower bitrate, DRM encumbered).

Just something to think about as well...

Re:Got my stuff on iTunes! Whoo-hoo! - 2008/05/19 21:34 Drat. I just assumed CD Baby would be using iTunes Plus as well.

After my bad TuneCore experience, I signed up for CD Baby last week, and sent my CD to them this morning. We'll see how it goes.
