Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/04/19 21:49 The Microtonal Music of Prent Rodgers-"Wagon Train Hoedown" gets my vote for electronica. Really interesting stuff.

We second that. Both of us. (Does that count as two votes?)

Additionally:

Aged Machine - Perpetual Motion Machine or Turn It Upside Down
Alchemist Corpse Rite - My Voice In Her Heart (a must-have cut)
Cafe Exotica - (just pick one - it's all incredible)
Dazzleships - Dream Furnace (another must-have)

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/04/19 23:02 Out of Prent Rodger's stuff I would emphatically suggest "Westering Journey" as his entry, as it really highlights the innovative microtonality of his music better than his own preferred track.

Anything by Alchemist Corpse Rite
Dream Furnace? Sure, why not.
And "Manatee Apocalypse."

There are others, but I need to research track names.

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/04/27 08:08 "Unnatural Disasters" is more like Mars Volta-meets-Pink Floyd prog than it is electronica. Since ACL were kind enough to nominate it in the "Other" category as well, I would suggest dropping it from this list... although I am certainly honored to receive the nomination!

Sadly, a job change and ongoing parental duties have limited my time for listening to very much of the work of other RPMers in the jukebox. But I am sold on a lot of what I've heard, especially (to single out a couple of my favorites at the expense of many other great ones) Another Cultural Landslide and Joshua Wentz! So far my favorite is definitely the Very Us Artists album though, so much great and diverse work!

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/04/27 08:38 I just listened to "Unnatural Disasters" and I think it qualifies. Great track, BTW. But I can see the arguement for other as well. So what am I saying? In a nutshell, I really have no clue but it needs to be somewhere in the compilation. There, I said it.

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/04/27 14:55 Yeah, Scott. Since I nominated Disasters, I'll weigh in. I would categorize it as prog-space/electronic-rock, it's not really electronica in the strict sense, I guess. As long as it makes it on a comp disk I'm happy.

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/05/28 18:26 I was surprised by my nomination: I rather preferred "Dangerous Stars." Then again, I haven't listened to any of these tracks in weeks.

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/05/30 22:40 Well Mick,

Had some time to listen in this genre (I don't know how qualified I am in this genre). I did find some really nice tracks, and I will listen to more when I get a chance. Hear goes:

1. 5Rings - Ryu

2. A.S.A.P. - Springtime in the Fall

3. Cafe Exotica - Mirage or Growing Through (loved both of these tracks)

4. Acme Groove Service - Decadance ( I think this track could go in the World category, but are classified as Electronica) see what you think.

Re:08 Disk # 5 - Electronica/Synthesis - 2008/05/31 20:19 Did we decided if Room 34-Natural Disasters is part of this or not? If so, that my 1st choice.

Baby's First Ride - Much Too Fast (now that its done)

I need 3 more. Mucho listening to do.
