Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/19 20:58 Mick's Nominations

Kavin's Acoustic Church - Fly to the Sun
Gumbo Stu - "But She Won't Say Where" or "A Most Holy Ruckus"
Jim Tyrell - Gray Rainbow
Debra Farris - Willow Run
Moschell - "Up the Lane" (because we need areal mandolin player not just us first year hacks -- and oh, yeah, it's damn good)

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/21 01:34 I'd suggest anything by Gumbo Stu, but my personal fave is Calvary.

Also, Nick Drake on Suicide by Colin Garvey would definitely work and I second and Try Again by Strummindude.

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/21 03:13 Ben Duval - Margarhee's Heart

Mellow Acoustic Guitar, so this is prolly the best spot for it..

---

John Pena - The Nature Song

Very, very, very catchy. I'm listening to tracks at random, and this one sticks out like a sore thumb.

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/21 21:53 For pure punk/folk/americana I really have to nominate:
Harm Me by Shat Benetar

I'm hooked on this band...they really do what they do just right. They punk up just about every genre on their CD and more often than not, they're spot on.

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/22 05:02 I'd also like to nominate The Sidewalk Boys for either "Gonna Get Away" or "Emerald Isle". Tasty Bluegrass stuff here.

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/23 05:24 Ok I'm gonna toot our own horn. I think a tune off our CD is really good and I personally had nothing to do with.

Invisibility - Osborne and Hutchison (this one is all BK)

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/23 12:33 One of the best parts of all this nomination stuff is the exposure to more and more great RPM music. It's sometimes just staggering at all the talented people out there, I am just starting to listen to all of the excellent nominations for this disk -- how are we gonna narrow all this down?

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/23 22:22 Oooh, compilation time! I loved the discs from last year and would like to be a part of it again, although I don't think our album is as strong this go around.

I guess this is a self-nomination for Jacuzzi Berkley and the Grufundos Pumps, if I may. Both albums are appearing in the jukebox but this year's is the "Book With No Pages" album. If you want faster/bluegrassy, I'd nominate "Dead Man's Hope". Slower/folk would probably be "Fancy".

Re:08 Disk #1 - Americana/Country/Roots - 2008/04/25 09:32 AS long as someone else has tooted their own horn, I guess I'd like to suggest you consider songs from my disc as well. you can hear it in the jukebox or online at

http://www.rossdurandmusic.com/pastime

I look forward to hearing more tracks by the folks nominated here.
