Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/04/20 01:00 Cool. I was reminded of the Rocky Horror Show for some bizarre reason. Lyndsay has a distinctive voice alright.

Haha! You will regret this! I can give you the chords to all the Gods songs we ever wrote (well, the ones where I wrote the music anyway). They have the advantage of being dead easy...

PM me if you want them

I wouldn't mind covering 'Breaking and Entering'..?

Pretty please.

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/14 14:23 You can always cover one of my little ditties. All you need to do is plunk your guitar near an amplifier and go crazy with a dictaphone. Oh what fun!

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/14 23:51 Right, the RPM cover that I've been working on is nearly finished now. It'll be on my profile soonish. I was hoping to finish it nearly 2 weeks ago, but the original vocal I laid down was so shit I walked away in disgust and didn't dare come back to it until I had forgotten the sheer vandalism I had done.

With great regret I have had to cut the ukelele part (I got one for my birthday and have been dying to use it, but sonically it just got in the way) but I found space for a screaming harmonica solo, so it's all good.

I have been drinking all day.

No point in stopping now. I'll have another whisky and then either put a rough mix on my profile or pass out in an ungainly heap. Which is more likely? Place your bets now...

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/15 01:18 Hey Sister (or anyone else), if you're feeling brave, I would love to hear someone else a non-noisified or acoustic version of this song: I made it last week for my friend to learn but the more the merrier. You need powertab, which is a free download, to make it work, but the guitar and bass parts (I got a little lazy with the bass tho) are there and so are the lyrics. Peace & love.

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/15 02:03 I didn't pass out!

My first RPM cover is now on my profile page; I did a version of the fantastic "Honey Why You Stay With Me" by Moschell.

Now I have nothing left to drink but my £25 bottle of single malt whisky. However, there's curry in the fridge. I'm happy.

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/15 02:20 Reminds me of another Liverpoolean band that used to do a lot of cover songs that actually turned out pleasingly good when compared to the original.

Can't think of the name of that other band though .... Damn!

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/15 02:30 So that's what it's supposed to sound like. I knew it had to be better than when I did it. Thanks for covering it.

Re:Cover versions of RPM songs - 2008/05/15 13:35 That's a killer version of one of my favorite RPM08 tunes. Killer harp break, too. Good job, Colin. I'd love to learn that one and play it live, but my voice isn't suited to blues howlers like that, but I may try it anyway just to get the guitar pattern down.

Maybe if I switch to whiskey I can sing like that?

yayah!

Sounds like you've been down visiting Bentonia, Mississippi my friend! Excellent work. I'd love to hear you do that exact version but on a National resonator...man, that would be classic.

Very well done!
