I guess my question is, is this interesting enough
Yes. my editor would like the spot in the middle where the didge stops to have some runoff. let it spill over a t a quiet ish level. The silence behind the flyers (flute? pipe?) is too artificial.
otherwise it's good for me.

Re:Isilwanyazane - Feedback? - 2008/02/23 22:34Thanks, Stu. Just did that edit and it does sound better. Thanks.
Also, nice ear, that's a pipe, pennywhistle to be exact.

Re:Isilwanyazane - Feedback? - 2008/02/24 01:42Just cleared out my profile to post the final tracked versions (not final mixes or masters). First up to the plate is "An Ingenious Confession Of The Truth". Click on the little man to hear it...
(Disclaimer - I'm not a very good singer, and I know it, but wanted to complete the challenge as a solo effort)

great - is there a remix up? I'd rather listen to yours than mine at this stage. I have my glass of "Powers" ready

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/24 04:26Here's another of my own that should have vocals yet will likely be an instrumental. It would have been my entry in the sad song challenge if I had made it in time.

New Demo Posted - DarkDaze - 2008/02/25 02:01Not sure if this will be on the final album yet. It's my first hip hop to be uploaded in this challenge, and an instrumental (like it looks like everything I do will be this year).
. . . . . . . .
<=== Just click on my little profile man to the left, of course.
As always, listen with headphones! It's just juicier that way ...
UPDATE: Aw crap! I got an error on the upload, gimme a sec ... crap crap crap ...
UPDATE2: Okay, it's working now. Standing down from Panic mode.

Posted demo's - 2008/02/25 03:45Ok, I am breaking my rule and posting some things that aren't completely done.
Take a listen, I have two songs up on my RPM profile page. They're close enough to done for me to say they get to go out and play. That said, they're not dressed properly...
PLEASE LISTEN LOUD.
Cheers,
Gary
PS-and let me know if you like them...

The beautiful vocals and lyrics are courtesy of Laura from Siamese Drummers. I can't thank her enough for lending her talents to this song!
And I think this song really embraces of the coolest aspects of RPM...this is a collaboration between two people half a world apart. How amazing is that?

Dark Side of the Poon related final tracks - 2008/02/25 18:37I have put up two new mp3s on the home page. These are the “final mixes” of the backing track and unused mix that was entirely re overdubbed that I posted over the month. If anyone is interested this would give some way of understanding my process.

Re:Dark Side of the Poon related final tracks - 2008/02/26 01:38Here's a shout out to all of the people who sent me private messages of encouragement! Thank you, all. I can't wait for the '08 Jukebox so I can hear the final versions.
"My Voice Her Heart" is EXQUISITE!

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/26 06:38So I have three songs up that I feel are finished enough. That leaves six more songs that aren't... You can either listen to them here (if you can figure out how to trace back to me) or you can hear them on my site:

Opinions please - 2008/02/26 18:07I posted an early version of Wanyama.
I sat down to do the drums for this and wanting a kind of displaced off-beat rhythm. Which I think I got, but now I'm completely questioning what the hell was I thinking?
Is this awkward or not?
Still missing the bass but hopefully soon.
In my profile player.

Re:I copped out and hit the arpeggiator to finish - 2008/02/28 01:02I lost a week this month but I'm still going to get something out before the end. The interruption kind of worked for me because I already got the backbones for a bunch of songs recorded early and now I'm only trying to put vocals and some guitars on.
Last night I got a lot of work done on four songs. Some are uploaded here, all are on my site here: www.psychicreform.com/rpm08
Cheers, Alan

"The Squeeky Cog gets the Grease" is a bit of Noise-based Industrial Ambiance.
"Brainwash Radio" are various quotes from a Francis E. Dec rant read by a computerized Text-to-Speech program & overlaid over each other and then played back over an out of sync rhythm track.
