the ongoing saga of C.Y.B.O.R.G. - 2008/02/24 05:26 Well the RPM Challenge is coming to a close, and I think I will make the deadline with the new CD, but it's been tough - Muggy (that's my 5 year old son) has missed a lot of school from that bad weather, and then last week he got sick with a bad cough and 102+ temp. Then I got sick, so it's been really tough, but enough waa waa waa.

The challenge really spurred me on to get back into music, and it spawned 2 of the best songs I have ever wrote (IMHO) -

Head Over Heels

and

Alien To Me

Check em out! (Oh BTW Don Cole actually co-wrote the Alien To Me song, we did it while watching the superbowl at his house studio, so just giving credit where credit is due. It was originally going to be a bridge section for Cyborg Blues, but I think even then we realized it should be turned into it's own song.). It turned out FAR different than anything we could have envisioned at his place, especially the choir like harmonies intro, and the weird end.

Here are the lyrics:
===============================================
Head Over Heels

I'm going back to the place where I was born
I'm going back to the only home I've known
I'm sick and tired and I'm sick of being alone
I'm going back to where I was falling...

Head, head over heels (I'm falling)
Head, head over heels (I'm falling)
Head, head over heels (I'm falling)
Head, head over heels (I'm falling)

I know I'll never smell that sweet Kentucky bluegrass
And we'll never sip lemonade on the porch
I'll never hold my wifes hand beneath a harvest moon
It seems like all my dreams have fallen...

Head, head over heels (I'm falling)
Head, head over heels (I'm falling)
Head, head over heels (I'm falling)
Head, head over heels (I'm falling)

================================================

The liner notes telling the story will go something like this (obviously Head Over Heels is the last song on the CD):

"The cyborg (he no longer thinks of himself as John Smith, in fact he can't remember what he, or his wife and children even looked like) decides to make a big splash on his return to earth. Feeling that the government betrayed him and more than a little incoherent, he sets his coordinates for the White House, as a final act of protest. His battered old spaceship seems to tumble in slow motion as he falls through the earth's atmosphere head over heels.

Amazingly, he actually manages to crash land on the White House lawn, where the ensuing explosion gouges a crater the size of a small house.

Only a few people suffer minor injuries, as the government has changed so much in the 300 years he had been gone that the seat of what he thought of as the American government no longer exists - his "big revenge" raises barely a blip in the news, as the 384 billion* inhabitants of the overcrowded and overheated earth have far more serious issues to deal with than the silly antics of a 300 year old insane robot.

Curiously, the last words recorded on his black-box were, "so pretty...".

* this number is assuming the population growth doubles every 50 years. The actual rate of growth may in fact turn out to be much higher, as evidenced by the growth doubling in just 38 years from 1961 to 1999."

Alien To Me

I've seen 11 moons over Saturn V sometimes I swear my ship is alive
And I've seen hellish cobalt skies burning radiation through my electronic eyes
The acid death rain threatens my metal hide as I wade through puddles of glycerides
Sometimes...sometimes I wonder why

I've made First Contact with a life that lives
They found it hard to believe my creators can give
After all that they have taken from me
Everything they have taken from me

It's alien to them
It's alien to me
