Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 05:05I threw a couple of rough song versions up on my profile for everyone else out there killing valuable RPM time and procrastinating here. One is a sample-based upbeat girl group style track while the other is far more ambient and came out almost Deerhunter style. Blatently honest feedback is always appreciated, and I'll be happy to return the favor.
Jim Tyrrell - I'm glad to see someone representing Song Fight! I was hoping to do all of the titles given in February but I'm afraid that I just haven't been attacking my tracks in an organized enough fashion.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 06:05In my profile I posted our first rough mix, a song called Empathy. What started out as a solo project has now turned into a 3 person band. I think we might actually become a "band" thanks to RPM 2008, and are thinking about doing some live shows some time after this is over. Right now it feels like we have about 4 very good, solid songs, 4 more that need work, and 2 ideas that haven't been roughed in yet.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 06:30Hey, I just posted my first demo for this year's challenge on my page. I participated last year as part of The Color Audition, but since that band is on hiatus due to its members being split across the midwest, I decided to do it on my own this year. With a boom box and cassette tapes.
Oh yeah.
The song that I posted is called "No More Polaroids". It's kind of a tribute to an important part of our culture that's soon to disappear (all Polaroid film will be discontinued by 2009).
Please give it a listen, and tell me what you think.
Thanks! -Esten

Song Fight = awesome. I'm sure there's more SF regulars here.
Anyway, I couldn't sleep so I finished up the second recording. It's called A Pint In A Broken Glass, and it's the 'tear in your beer' song of the album. It's on the profile, and it's right here:

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 10:20I have 2 demos on my site as well as a 3rd coming in the next day. Any feedback would be appreciated. What is this song fight thing you guys are talking about? I am curious. Also, is anyone in Dallas? Wouldn't it be cool to form a band with people you met online while doing the challenge? God bless us all with music, Sir. London Clean-Lily aka Lance Dillon Lyon
P.S. I might change the name of the release from A Rogue Stallion on an Escort of Pain to MY REALM due to a. me wanting to use that name later and b. MY REALM is extremely relevant for what I am doing now.

It's called "Calvary (Whadya Come Here For)" and reaches out into the mists of FolkPunk and Salvation Mythology.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 16:28OK, I'm finally in the demo club with Flyby. I posted mine on my account here. My first attempt at using drum loops. I got all the sounds from the freesound project except for my guitar that I put over the top.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 21:44I just posted "The Acrobat Tries to Impress" on my profile.
Jinx, I liked "Adonai" a lot! Boson havoc, "Do It" makes me groove.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 23:08So, technically I did record this piece this month, but since it's a film score I'm not sure if I'm gonna add it to the album...
But, for anyone who wants an excuse to stop working for a minute, and is interested in hearing my first attempt at scoring a short film, you can watch it here (you do have to install a player but it takes just a second)

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/11 23:21Any electronic music fans want to give constructive criticism on the three Aged Machine tracks we've posted so far? The dance type tune has been tweaked a little since I uploaded it, but the other two currently sit 'as-is'
We're finding many times that the songs people like the most aren't always OUR favorites.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/12 00:35Aged, I like where all of these are going. "Untitled As Of Yet" is my favorite thus far. I'd say my only comment is that the drums on your third track, "Maybe what this song needs", seem a little too quiet. The snares especially could use some crispness.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/12 00:43Thanks for the input, Josh... and Mick, even though you know I can't play the didj... hahaha.
The drums are the weakest link in that track, I think -- I plan on spiffing them up a bit and adding more 'one-off' sounds throughout. This is a technique I think I need to apply to all the tracks....
but hey, there's still 18 days, plenty of room for improvement!

Peter Fedofsky makes wonderful melodic tunes and finished half his record already.
What's with all these people finishing their records in the first two weeks. It make me sort of nervous. Calm down will you...

Post edited by: Monopoli, at: 2008/02/09 01:12
Thank you for the encouragement. If it makes you feel any better, I have not had the time to record more since that first batch. Sure, I've been playing around with stuff every day, but I'm still nervous about finishing!
Keep up the good work (and the pace) everyone...

I'm not into cyclopses, seriously.

enjoyed the track, Chronic, some great harmonies in there. Not my genre but I listened to the whole track which speaks volumes. Cool Ear Candy.

New Demo... 95% done! - 2008/02/13 01:54In my profile, you can find "Band Of Rain", which I only need to add a melodica track to and do some mixing to before it's done.
This is VERY different for me, especially for this album. I'm trying to to different vocal styles for many of the tracks, to mix it up a bit... and I was going for a touch of nasaly Neil Young thing on this one, because this song just feels "country" to me.
Let me know what you think!
Also, Zumatar, I'm zoning our to your latest demo as I type... ahh....

Lyrics still not on recorded on Less Pod, Please, so it's a little slow until 2:10 when the lead kicks in.
Alive has my crappy voice over a nice, thin, cheap Ibanez acoustic guitar. Heartfelt though. Never thought I'd talk about that.
Anyway, I have 1 more that I can't seem to get bounced. I have 2 more that are in process and other ideas floating around. I'm getting about 2 hours a night on this.

Re:Post your demo's here. - 2008/02/13 19:53One demo up...though it's really the finished version of the song. Techno, kinda weird, let a friend listen, and he compared it to a bunch of artists I'd heard of but never heard, so I don't know if that's good or bad.
It's called "Delta Lyrae" after a star in the constellation Lyra, because...well, why not? *shrug*
