Kunaki isn't very flexible in allowing us to design our on disks. The art is going to be a problem I think. But they are the cheapest.
Kunaki is 1.60 per disk + 23.95 for shipping (and we can't get a 600 disk discount because they are separate "products"). Cost per disk is $1.85.
I found another service that is $2.69 a disk for quantities of 100 + S/h (undisclosed). This service will let us make our disks exactly as we want but it's going to cost more.
Second issue is the digital masters. These services are geared towards track at once instead of disk at once. I'm working these few problems out and Rob is redoing the art in a form I can use. After they'll I'll run it both ways and we'll decide which way to go.
I'll know very soon!

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/09/18 00:34I'll be happy to pay the extra to get the art work. The art is part of what makes them cool !

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/09/18 00:56I could be misunderstanding both you and Kunaki, but my understanding is they duplicate/replicate everything on your master disk, including the archetecture of the disk itself. Your indexing and all should work on it the exact same way it works on the master. Check thier specs for confirmation or details.
Kunaki allows for a two-sided front insert (front cover and inside opposite the disk tray), disk art, and a back cover with spines. This is what was designed.
You are unlikely to find anybody to give a discount on seperate products for quantities shy of several hundred. Kunaki doesn't give discounts at all, regardless of the size of the order or number of 'products'. It's an automated process with zero modifications to what it does.
Either way, I'm in. Just food for thought.

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/09/19 14:35I'm officially in -- just did the paypal thing. Looking forward to getting them. Everyone else, sign up now so we can get them quicker!!
Mick: If the "automated" assembly thing gets too expensive (or if you have to go multiple routes on production), you can always send them to me unassembled. I can put the CD together myself and shrink wrap is not that important -- I only tear it off anyway!!

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/09/25 22:44So, Mick, have you figured out how you'd like us all to order the boxed sets? Do we do the PayPal thing? Send you a check? Or is this something as yet to be determined? Let us know. Thanks. ER
I just got enough confirmed orders to make the minimum amount of sets to get the $1.60 price.
So all, we are in at the price we wanted. A few more weeks for the remaining orders and we're all good! I'll keep you all posted
BTW, no word from Hear yet.

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/09/30 05:28Oops. I meant to say, after the initital order of boxed sets for $20 a piece, I'll be abler to get more of them but at $7.60 a disk for a total of $46.
What I'm saying is get them now at $20 for all 6 while you can.
My collection of nickels and dimes is almost complete ...

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/10/01 22:36No particular time. But I think I'll order in about two weeks. I have to get the duplication masters in the mail and get them checked first. Probably have that done in about 10 days and then we'll order ten days after that.

Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/11/02 17:31And....they are on there way to me now. I should have them very soon and I'll go about getting them packed up and off to you guys. Overall 60 different musicians ordered over 84 copies of the disks including a few extras here and there of just one disk.
To those asking about Christmas gifts, yes ... I will get them out to you as soon as possible so you should have plenty of time to get them in the mail yourself.
Re:Hear Disks Boxed Sets - 2007/11/09 00:30There couldn't be a better time than right now (er.. well, soon) to get pumped up for the nextRPM challenge. I am looking forward to being completely inspired by all you wicked cool artists who contributed.
..and a special salute to Mick for making this all come together
peace!

I talked to Me Postman and he said the best way is cardboard boxes. That's beyond our budget so I went with sturdy padded envelopes. He said, "They're going to break some of them just because they'll be in the bottom of a mail bag tossed onto a truck".
I went with his recommendation which was tape them all together tightly, put them in a padded envelope and send them. Bubble packing etc only works if you can use 2 or 3 inches of it. So...
you guys might need to get some jewel cases, but I think the disks will survive.
