This is really an event where we trust our participants to follow the spirit of the suggested requirements. So, if you want to re-record something, and add it on to 10 additional songs or 35 minutes of stuff - sure!
especially if it's something you've been meaning to get around to but just haven't.
that said...
you might be surprised with what you come up with if you try only new stuff that hasn't been recorded or released yet! think about it a bit anyway.
RPM was created, in part, to help artists explore a new creative process with the hope that it would enable us to lay down "the editor" that creeps in from time to time when we're songwriting. i know it exists in my head anyway.
but, if you're feeling inspired and connected to music and musicians at february's end, you can consider RPM a success regardless of what you accomplish 
(chris/dave/karen - anything else to add? any clarifications?)
