Re:midi latency - 2008/02/06 07:55 Are you getting stutter of not having "local off"? Or are you talking latency of midi out of keyboard....into the computer....then back out of computer and into the keyboard...with the keyboard playing the final sound you hear?

Are you having the software/sequencer play the sound during recording?

Just trying to get a sense of what you're running into.

Me, I use a cheapo Casio keyboard; turn local off; run into a MIDIsport 4x4 which I then use to control virtual synths in programs like Pro Tools, or Project 5.2.

Re:midi latency - 2008/02/06 09:08 Hi There...

the 1st question (that Seattleguitarman is right about asking) is how are you using midi... are you triggering a keyboard or a soft or virtual synth... for the latter, one thing that can increase latency is have a high audio buffer setting... if you are using a vitual synth rig like reason, or whatever, try lowering the audio buffer as low as you can... say 128, or 64 even... see if that helps...

if you are triggering a keyboard... make sure that the local is off for sure, that would create a midi loop, that would seem like latency..

good luck!

Re:midi latency - 2008/02/06 17:43 sorry it went into a new forum thingy
I am using fl studio 6 with my sounds (mostly b4 II) etc.......what I have been doing and what I am planning on doing is using the keyboard it is a usb midi keyboard with no sounds in it plugging it in, running the sounds out of fl studio output to the sound card where I record them from in my recording program.......so it is a live performance that I am trying to capture
cheers
Tom

Re:midi latency - 2008/02/06 19:14 puttin the buffer below 64 definately helps, not a complete fix but it is at least doable
any more ideas and tips would be greatfully appreciated
cheers
Tom
