CDDB - 2007/02/28 03:21 Apologies if this question has been asked before. Does anyone know how to officially enter one's album into the CDDB so when you give a copy to a friend say, the album and song names will appear in their iTunes/whatever media player?

Re:CDDB - 2007/02/28 06:13 Winamp usually asks you if you want to enter the info if it can't find any matches and gives you a series of menus to fill out. This info gets sent to Gracenote, one of several CDDB services.
I can't speak for the others.

Re:CDDB - 2007/02/28 14:09 Indeed this happened when I used Windows Media Player 11. It doesn't instill me with confidence though.

Re:CDDB - 2007/02/28 14:13 I'll let you know if it worked when I bootleg your CD.

Just kidding.

Re:CDDB - 2007/02/28 17:15 I wonder if you can do that with CDs burned on your computer? I was able to upload our information for last years RPM CD through Itunes but that was after we had the CD duplicated at Discmakers. I am thinking that a duplicated CD has a unique registration number that burned CDs would not have.

Re:CDDB - 2007/02/28 18:21 Nope you can't unless it's a real music CD with an "authorized" number. On the TOC of a CD is the number it's issued. This is what CDDB uses to look up the album. If you make real cdda CD and put a number on there it might work, but I think CDDB databases will only accept the real thing.

Re:CDDB - 2007/03/10 23:33 I just sent my CD info to Gracenote via iTunes' advanced menu.

I've tried this before and been refused because the genre names were not matching Gracenotes categories - they've never heard of TranceFolk or Hickabilly or CelticDrunkSoulPunk

so I changed the CD info to Country

if anyone ends up with one of my CDs they can check it out
