Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/07 03:37 All of the songs that I have uploaded are played in slow-motion... and they do not sound good played like that!

(Some argue that they do not sound good played normal, but...)

Anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it?

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/07 06:57 Please share the answer with us all! Is it to do with VBR mp3 encoding?

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/11 15:39 I guess the player is expecting 128kb/s mp3s. Anything higher than that will slow down. Anything lower will speed up, and VBRs will be all over the place!

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/12 16:00 I've one song at 192kbs and one at 128kbs. They both seem to play OK.

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/14 03:08 Oh, yeah! The answer!
Sorry, I forgot that part...

For me, I had to encode the file at 44100Hz. I originally was encoding them at 48, which would play fine on my computer, but I think that the engine only works with 44100Hz files or else it will play them wrong. That seemed to be the solution...

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/14 06:37 It seems like I read somewhere that most mp3 players and even flash players require the mp3 file to be encoded at 11.025 kHz, 22.050 kHz or 44.100 kHz. If it's at 48, the player will sample it down to 44.100 and cause playback to be slower, or sample it up to 66.050 or some such number and speed it up. So it's best to set your mp3 converter to encode at 44.100 so it will play at the proper speed in all players.

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/14 07:47 Phew! I'm glad that my song wasn't played faster... that would have sounded HORRIBLE!

Re:Sample Engine Slows The Songs Down! - 2007/02/15 16:38 Yes -- I think that 44,100kHz is the magic sampling number -- it's fairly standard anyway, so there's no reason not to encode at that rate, so if you're having trouble with playback please try encoding at 44,100 kHz.
