Microphone = antenna?!?! - 2007/02/03 01:27 Okay, I put this in my blog (those things people never read) as well, but I figured I'd put it in a place where I'd likely get some feedback.

Here's my ish. My microphone is picking up the country station. I have it hooked up to my four-track which is going into my computer. I know, lame home-recordings, but step-off for now. Give me shit later. So I can't exactly MOVE my recording area too much; my options are limited. It's just when I go to record a vocal track, Gretchen Wilson thinks she can come along. And I don't want that filthy slattern backing me on my shit.

It's pissing me off.

Tips?

change the gain structure on your recording console to minimize the interference.
record only when the country station is off the air, or when Paul Harvey is talking.
- peace!

Re:Microphone = antenna?!?! - 2007/02/03 12:45 Can you try a different mic cable? They're not all the same...

P.S., I applaud any and all "lame home-recording" practices, including (but not limited to) the use of four-track.

Re:Microphone = antenna?!?! - 2007/02/04 01:03 Maybe have a vocal duel with Gretchen Wilson? Whenever she says something, just call her a bitch and tell her to step off and... who knows... maybe she'll fight back and it will result in a very interesting interlude...

Re:Microphone = antenna?!?! - 2007/02/07 00:47 I used to live in Syracuse and you could pick up the 50,000 Watt station on your clock radio when it was OFF! This, of course, presented many recording problems for anyone in the area.

Different times of day were actually worse than others...try finding out which ones don't such. I think technically, you may also be able to report them to the FCC...OMG, the REAL purpose of the FCC, as opposed to, you know, freaking out about Janet Jackson's boob or Prince's penis-shaped guitar.

Re:Microphone = antenna?!?! - 2007/02/07 00:50 I have a thought, but I don't want someone suing me when you take that country station offline permanently.

Oh, that is fucking hilarious.
No, really. You have to make something out of that somehow - it would be a crime for you to not do so!
