Get the word out, get the lead out, and get the RAWK ON!
For those of you who don't know, I run a site called Sidedown, on which I do a weekly podcast. Last year, at the end of the RPM Challenge, I did two RPM artist podcasts and they were fantastic!
I thought that this year I'd try and to more RPM podcasting, to prop up the Challenge, the great bands and people that take part, and to have even more fun.
I'd like to do one RPM Downcast a week, starting next week. That means, I'm taking submissions for the podcast starting Friday.
The Theme: INTRODUCTION
Introduce yourself! Say "Hello" into the mic, play a little tune, show us what you're up to in the initial days of the Challenge. Send the audio to downcast@sidedown.comby Monday, February 4th, and it'll go into that Wednesday's podcast.
Let me know if you have any questions. The emphasis here is on FUN- do whatever you want, send whatever you want, just make sure you let me know who you are and where to find you, so I can tell all of the podcast listeners to check you out!

Re:RPM Podcast At Sidedown - 2008/02/01 22:27Yeah, mp3 is ideal, but anything that can be emailed, I can use. If anyone has something that's too big for their email (is that still a problem in today's modern age), then they can just send me a link to download it.

Re:RPM Podcast At Sidedown - 2008/02/01 23:13Okay, after didjing in the early pm yesterday and actually getting THREE usable parts (hooray) I had the red didj ring on my mouth and needed a break. I picked up the jaw harps to just tool around on and ended up making a Podcast ditty. I need a quick mix down but
1) It's like 3 minutes long
2) Are you really interested in jaw harp?
PS You said have fun. I did. Breathing all over the mic and everything. Not an easy instrument to record.

Today's the last day for entries, so if you'd like to introduce yourself in some way, just send an mp3 to downcast@sidedown.com and I'll add it to the list!
The podcast will go up tomorrow evening.

Re:RPM podcast from Sidedown is Live! - 2008/02/05 23:19Ah man, I wanted to contribute to that so bad, but I lost the link for it and got a terrible sore throat at the same time. Not so good.
I promise I'll try to get into the next one though!

Re:RPM podcast from Sidedown is Live! - 2008/02/06 00:21Holy ****! Dang Mick, your piece was abso-f***ing-lutely brilliant. I have to figure out a way to have you play on a song. You should be doing soundtrack work.
Dang, I am humbled.
Regards,
Gary

Thanks, Gary.
I'll have to pass those kudos off to my uncle Frank. He taught me how to play the thing. And while I'd like to say I just threw that together, it was stuff I already knew how to do just strung together. I got so busy I didn't know how to end the thing though. Don't under estimate engineering either. It would be a whole lot less interesting live.
I thought everyone was awesome. Can't wait for next week.

Re:RPM podcast from Sidedown is Live! - 2008/02/06 01:37I'm always pleasantly surprised by the creativity of everyone here... and I loved listening to everything people sent in... some of it cracking me up quite a bit.
Yeah, I can't play the Jaw Harp for nuthin'. Then again, I don't really try very hard either.

Wonderful stuff all around - wildly impressed with the Carpentron & BPK cuts! Loved Gary's intro, the OHHO cut, and Will Deuel can lay down clams any time he wants, as far as I'm concerned...
And damn, Mick - that was an amazing use of Jaw Harp.
Of course, I've already praised Static elsewhere, Joshua...
In fact, everything on this podcast was solid.
Well, everything except us - but hey, we were only there to provide comic relief...
But next time, y'all - we're bringing out our "A" game.
Great, great job, everyone... and thanks again, JW.

Re:RPM podcast from Sidedown is Live! - 2008/02/06 19:19Could someone post a more direct link to the show? I'd love to hear it. The link that's there is to some kind of RSS feed and I don't know how to use those and don't have the time to learn just now.
Cheers, Alan Evil
p.s. I hope to have a song for this week's!

Our first RPM podcast was all about introductions; now that we've got the formalities out of the way, it's time for everyone to bring it with some funky-fly jams!
The Theme: Fresh!
What's your illest track so far? Let's hear it! Send your current favorite, the one you just really got to come out right (or the closest to right!), to downcast@sidedown.com, include the band/artist name and track name, and it'll go up in next week's Downcast.
Deadline for submission is Monday, Feb 11... so get t'crackin' foo!
