Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/01/27 05:57 I'd be honoured to collaborate with folks who want to add the great sound of Hammond to their project.

I own a 1941 Hammond Model D hooked to a 147 Leslie (60's vintage). It is the best sounding keyboard I've ever owned.

I began playing in 1957, at age 4, and played professionally for the first time in 1965 in my hometown of New Orleans. Over 6,000 gigs later... I've got a few chops. My specialty is blues.

Let's have some fun. Let's change the way music is produced and distributed.

It is time!

Re:Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/01/27 07:24 I'm a huge Hammond fan! Jon Lord is my absolute favorite keyboardist. I'm also a big fan of Booker T. & The MG's. If I sent you a CD or MP3's of a song or 2, would you be willing to add some Hammond gusto to them? We could whip up some Blues Rock for you.

Let me know!

Re:Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/01/27 07:27 Respects.

I've (under)utilized this great instrument on a lot of songs in the past couple of years. So far, I haven't written songs for '08 yet, but I'd be very pleased to get in touch with you if one comes that could use the Hammond (likely).

I do a lot of blues-inflected stuff and sometimes pure blues.

I'm assuming you can and like to solo??

Re:Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/01/27 14:41 Now there's an offer! You'll be in demand, mate

There's a good chance of you being able to spice some of the Gumbo tunes, for sure.

Re:Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/01/27 16:44 I wrote an article titled The Top 5 Rock Keyboardists for Helium.com last year. My order, which somewhat reflects their influence upon me, are:

1. Keith Emerson
2. Rick Wakeman
3. Jon Lord
4. Vincent Crane
5. Ray Manzarek

My style is a combo of those fellows plus a ton of influence by fellow NOLA keys men like Professor Longhair, Dr John, Fats Domino, Huey "Piano" Smith, and Ed Volker. Others from outside include Booker T Washington, Paul Revere, and, of course, The Great Jimmy Smith.

We have a studio with a Korg D3200 multitrack recorder. We can accept audio from virtually any source and easily create a Hammond track.

I also have a Moog Theramin (signed by Bob).

Re:Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/02/19 06:06 ArmondBlackwater: I'm in need man!

Check out the track called Blossom on this page. I had wanted to put a Hammond done throughout the track, and have it running alone with the bass and drums for the verses. But...alas...I stink at playing anything rock organ like. Just horrible.

Let me know if you're interested in dusting that track with your Hammond-ways and I'll pass along a clip without all the rhythm guitar in way during the verses for you to play with.

Re:Need a Veteran Hammond Player? - 2008/02/19 15:20 Ian, count me in. I'll work on the tracks this morning. This is a great bed for my Hammond to lie in.

thanks -- armond
