NOISES (Help Needed)!!! - 2008/02/17 19:32 I decided I'm doing a 10-13 minute-long "freakout" song on my RPM CD, kind of reminiscent of Wilco's "Kidsmoke" and the live version of Apollo Sunshine's "Phyliss".

If anyone has any sound samples I can put in the song somewhere, show me the link here and I will use them.

Also, any suggestions and questions are encouraged/greatly appreciated!

Thanks
-Zane

Re:NOISES (Help Needed)!!! - 2008/02/17 19:48 Hi Zane,

I've got some stuff at the CT-Collective you can mangle. Click the link below, then go to either my page and look for the 'Source' album, or go to the 'Source' album and look for my tracks... Anything of mine off the 'Source' album is fair game.

Re:NOISES (Help Needed)!!! - 2008/02/17 19:48 One thing I did, that actually is (somewhat) reminiscant of "Kidsmoke," now that I think about it, is that I recorded my Cakewalk's metranone, and used it as a sample. You can make it do simple drum sounds, so I think I made it a kick for the main beat and a closed hat for the rest. Something like that. The song I used that on should be up on the sample engine, "Ghost Edit." It was kind of an interesting little experiment. Heck, if you want it, it's pretty simple, I could share. Of course, you might be able to create that yourself. "Ghost Edit" also on www.myspace.com/andrewbrewer1 , the song is there also, with my other stuff for this album.

tons and tons, but you will need to attribute the file on your album and will not be able to release it commercially without express permission.....

Re:NOISES (Help Needed)!!! - 2008/02/17 23:37 For Freesound, I believe you actually can use it for commercial purposes, as long as proper attribution is given. That's based on the sampling license they use as the standard.

(As a matter of fact, a Freesound sample was used in Children Of Men. It mentions it in the credits.)

I'm using a bunch of freesound on my album. It's an EXCELLENT resource, on sound design projects I get about 80% of what I need there. It's really useful if you need field recordings. People also put loops up if you need them but I haven't really checked those out to any extent.
