Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/06 19:59 I have a song that features a banjo going throughout, basically repeating the same 4 chord rhythm part over and over again. A fake banjo won't cut it for this song -

is anyone willing to record the bit for me? I can send you a draft of the song - it's indie rock style. I'm definitely up to trade collabs too if you need some female vocals or something

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/06 20:35 Hey,

I would be willing to at least listen to the draft and see if I'm up to the challenge... I assume you're looking for 3-finger, bluegrass style banjo, just some basic roll patterns in the background? I play mostly clawhammer style but I could try dusting off my 3-finger chops if the part's relatively easy.

(What key is the song in?)

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/06 21:00 That would be awesome! Here, to make it easier for you (or someone) to decide if they could do it, I put an mp3 of the bit on my profile page. I basically want it to sound like that, just...real-er.

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/06 21:09 Ah, interesting - that's more of a 4-string banjo sound; strummed instead of picked. I don't have a 4-string, but I might be able to fudge it. What are the chords and the tempo?

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/06 21:38 Oh, crap, I forgot now I have to commit to a tempo...I'm working on the song today, let me get a little further along and I'll decide tempo this afternoon

The chords are A minor, A minor, G, D

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/06 22:15 I would be delighted to do it...

I've been listening to your stuff since last year's RPM.
And I could use someone who could actually sing on a song.

Let me know if you still need a banjo!

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/07 00:28 Ok, I think 115 bpm is what I'm gonna commit to...Zane or usonian, still up for it?

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/07 05:19 Awesome, thanks so much! All I need is that short bit, I can just loop it. If you feel like doing it a couple times over that would be cool too, but not necessary. You can send it to jessicaemelia@gmail.com.

Let me know if you need anything! Thanks again!

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/07 05:50 Whoops, looks like I missed the boat. Let me know if you need any 5-string banjo down the road!

Cheers,
-A

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/07 14:44 Hmm. I would prefer aif or wav, but if you can't do that, mp3 will work fine.

I've also uploaded an extremely (extremely!) rough version of the song to my virb page (called All My LIfe) just in case you want to hear what it's going into

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/24 19:21 Sorry, I've been really busy with school and stuff and haven't been able to work on anything RPM related really, but rest assured I can get the part recorded today.

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/24 20:26 Wow, that would be great! I was thinking of bringing it up again but I was thinking you were probably (understandably) pretty busy with your own music. And, in fact, if you are, it would be totally cool.

If you do have time to do it, I forgot that there is one other very short and easy banjo bit I need for the song. Also, I think I"m going to put the BPM at 114.

Do you have an email address? It might be easier to email you the mp3s, if you are still willing to do it. If you want, send me a private message here with your email address and I can send the mp3s of the banjo bits to you.

Thank you so much! Let me know if there's anything I can record for you, I should have some time this Tuesday to do some recording.

Jessi

Re:Need a banjo player for a short, easy bit - 2008/02/24 21:00 Ok, so in case you just want to go to my profile page, I've posted the bits there. The official one is BPM 114, and I also posted a slower one at BPM 85 in case it's helpful to hear it slowed down.
