Re:Wanted: Rockabilly guitar solo - 2008/02/06 05:10
OK, here it is -- definitely a rough demo but hopefully good enough for folks to lay down some (not sure of a suitable rockabilly adjective) geetar. The vocals are for shite, the 12-string accoustic was just plugged in direct, and the drum mix is poor. But I am happy with the bass! I've never tried to play in that walking style before and probably spent more time tonight on that than the rest combined.
So, it's in the key of E (I'm pretty sure) and almost all the guitar chords are 7ths (at least I think that's what they are) except for the intro part which repeats after the first chorus. I have no idea what those particular chords are (I call pretty much any chord I don't know "jazz chords"), but that's where it definitely needs some lead, and then anywhere else it feels right.
I said Brian Setzer style earlier because he's the only rockabilly guitarist I know, so don't let that restrict anybody. Have at it -- I can't wait to hear what the talented RPM folks can add!
