Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/04 00:41 This is a simple part.

I have a passage that is "AH-Hee -Ya-Hey" repeated in the low end of a song. I have doubled my own voice once. It repeats for about 4m30s. I need about 20 others to do the track with me. This is not a WANT it is a NEED.

You don't even have to be able to sing well, just a little. It's an easy part for most males and the breathing isn't even that important since we'll be breathing at different times.

The only requirement is willingness and maybe getting into feeling just a bit tribal. I'll send you a track you load it and do the part with it in a separate track and send me the results digitally.

Please PM me or use the E-Mail function to tell me you're willing. I need this SOON so I'll be bumping this message. Or just post here you'll do it and I'll find you.

Mr Wentz could you please demand that people do this? (I'll keep Ms Kitty off your back).

Re:Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/04 19:35 Okay, I have 11 so far (if you count all the Gary Foxes).

Seriously, I need about 9 more.

I'll be sending this out tonight after I get home from work.

I do like Gary's idea. You can do it a couple of times and change you're inflection a bit and I'll mix them in.

Really though new voices would be great. And this ia really is easy. Ah-Hee-Yeah-Hey, hit the Hee hard with some gut. It's in a chant in a low voice to a didj, on two different -- easy to hit pitches. You should be able to listen to it a few times and then do it in one or two takes. Shouldn't take you more then 20 minutes. Really easy, and it will great when we're done. I'll try to make a vocal cue as to when to move down and back up on pitch.

If you want to know about the piece, in case I'm some lunatic asking to blow up the human race, in the song the words actually say "Listen .. Hear Me ... Listen. That's why we have to come back to our mother this land". And I need a backup female vocalist that's willing to sing the words in this paragraph (part in an Aboriginal tongue and part English).

Send a message or reply in the forums please. I'll find you. And thanks to all those that already volunteered. We'll get working tonight.

How about an additional track from me, where I'm singing the same thing through one of my didges? Not playing the didge, just singing through it and mic'ing at the bell. It might add some additional tonal qualities to the mix. I'll probably do a plain vocal and a "through didge" vocal that you can use if you want, or not use, if you don't want.

Re:Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/04 21:18 I'm in on that, B. Send me both and it might be just what I need to add some diversity. Might be really good for me to do that through the big A stick, too.

Re:Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/04 21:41 Hey Mick,

Do we get a reference track to work with? I can just say this stuff into a mike, but I would prefer something to work with so I can give you something decent.

Thanks

Gary

PS-I won't post the sybil piece for now.

PPS-He means it.

Re:Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/04 21:57 Yeah you do, Gary. I'll send it out in five or six hours when the mundaness of work is over and I've had that first gin and tonic of a LONG night ahead.

I'll probably add a few cues since in a few parts is moves down in pitch.

Excellent, thanks Mick. If you don't mind, include the BPM. Thanks.

What kind of gin?

I'm a Hendricks guy, or Saphire.

Cheers,

Gary

Re:Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/04 22:50 Churchill Gin. In the middle shelf, green bottle sometimes hard to find, but most excellent. We've tried lots of gin, you can pay more, but for us, it's the good stuff. Clean and crisp.

As for BPM, I'll send that, but I could mix in the drum track and that would help quite a bit.

Both are great. I will drop the track into Sonar, so if I know the BPM I can line it up properly. Add the drums though, so I know the groove.

Send me a wav file if possible. If it's too big for e-mail, use www.megaupload.com. You and I used it this past summer. It's free, as a reminder.

I have a pitch shifter plug in with Sonar, and a few other tricks too. I will send you each take as a separate file for you to play with as you wish...

Cheers,

Gary

Re:Male Vocals Needed - Not Necessairly Good Ones - 2008/02/05 08:21 File is done. I added cues of when to change pitch. Drum track is mixed in (that's what took all night -- broke out the skins).

I'll find a way tomorrow to get it to you all. I have mp3 and flac. The wave is 55MB, Flac is 23M, mp3 about 3.6MB.

Sing with the Mick's!

It's phonetically equal to

HEY YOU HADDA

with short As as in AH in the HADDA

It's continuous throughout the whole song but you can miss one to take a breath anytime you need. Pitch changes here and there but the cue will count you down on when yo change as in 4 - 3 - 2 -1 - Change.

This is tribal in nature. It's a chant. Perfection is not important but stay as near the pitch as you can and stay on beat. Those that have some singing talent I'll be giving you a stronger part of the mix.

You can do as many tracks as you want but get them to me separately so I can pick the mix. I'll need them back as 44.1/16 or 48/24 WAV or FLAC files.

Thanks! I appreciate all the volunteers. This is going to be great!
