Super Happy Fail Party aka James Cooley - Public Transportation or Hey Mr. Robot (a fun, fun disc!)
Room 34 - Unnatural Disasters (we saw he was listed in electronica - but he fits really well here as well. Whatever - another album that should definitely be represented on these discs.)

Re:08 Disk #8 - Other - 2008/04/21 01:31As Mparker said on another thread: Since Mick's rules explicitly permit voting for oneself, I'm going to be the first since I have no shame.
Here here! Besides, how can anyone else promote you if you aren't willing to do it yourself?
In that spirit, I'm going to nominate two of my songs here that, for whatever reason, have generated the most buzz from my Soundclick page.
-Incident at Motel 6. -Requiem for my Singlehood (actually, that would probably be best on the Jazz/Blues disk, but whatever...)

Re:08 Disk #8 - Other - 2008/04/21 01:45All right Helen, I was just writing up a nomination for the motel song, so I guess you can regard this as a second to that nomination.
Also, I'm wondering whether a song called Padre would end up here. It's a collab between myself and Colin Garvey and in the "operatics" genre, which doesn't really exist.
I guess if we had to choose, both me and Colin would rather have any of our respective original songs eligible instead of this collab. And then there's also the question whether this would really count as a valid entry, seeing as the vocal part and collab thing really didn't happen until way after the deadline, although it's an addition to a song that was already in one of the rpm albums.
Someone really needs to step in to arbitrate this issue.

Easy enough. Songs MUST be originally on a disk that went to RPM HQ. You can rework them but they have to have been sent in then.
Sorry, I'm a bit dense. Does that mean that a song that was sent in with an accepted album, that was later added to with lyrics and vocals, is OUT or IN, with regards to the compilation?
And does a collab disqualify all of the participants from further entries?

Re:08 Disk #8 - Other - 2008/04/21 02:06I would suggest that song is OUT. For instance, I heavily modified a song "STATIC 18" after the fact, enough that I would not consider it the same song.
What you suggest, the addition of lyrics and vocals, does not seem like the same song to me.

So noted. I would regard it that same song though, just more fulfilled towards its original aspirations.
It would be a whole differeint ballgame if we allowed for no re-recordings or additions to what was sent in, but I didn't quite get that from the outline of the rules that Mick presents. Or maybe I just misread.
Anyhow, I will not nominate "Padre" as an entry, as it abviously would be controversial.

Re:08 Disk #8 - Other - 2008/04/21 03:40I think a WHOLE album of colabs would be awesome cause I love colabs. So keep that in mind. Maybe we can get to it before the storm that will be 09.

You know, I think I might like to just completely collab in 09. No solo album. Maybe we'll see if that can happen.

Re:08 Disk #8 - Other - 2008/04/21 18:30My vote is for Wonkeye - "Intergalactic Donkey Ride" or "Centrifigal Force"

It's almost impossible to pick one particular item from this great album, it should preferrably be enjoyed as a suite, all 25 songs. This is one of the longer pieces - it clocks in at 1:41. It's labelled as pop, but there's not a single pop song on the album. It's ... um, stranger. I don't think this genre has been invented yet.
And where does experimental go? If it goes here, it got another nominee: Geoff Williams - Smithsphony
