RPM'ers everywhere - get your scene involved! - 2007/01/14 10:46 Welcome to you all!

California, Texas, England, Norway, New Zealand and beyond. Wow.

We couldn't be happier that you're participating!

You know, last year, RPM really took our scene by storm. There was great sense of connectedness amongst the participants - regardless of genre. Musicians of every level/skill had something in common, and as a result the area was a'buzz. On the street, in bars and coffee shops, little two and threes and fours of RPM'ers could be seen chatting about their respective projects/ idea/ plans. It far exceeded our own expectations! When we first got together to plan the event, we were cautiously optimistic that we could get 20 artists or bands on board.

One of the best things about RPM that separates it from the other many excellent challenges out there (IMO), is the emphasis on community. This message board is but a part of it.

I would whole heartedly encourage those of you who who don't have other particpants near you to in turn encourage your fellow local musicians to join in the fun. Use the map to see if there are other participants near you, and if not, sign some up! Take over an open mic in your town and make it an RPM night to try out your new material!

There is no doubt that they, like you, will experience the wonderful artistic benefits, inspiration and deep sense of community that swept us up last year.

consider us your sister scene! i'm personally hoping for more networking/communication between "scenes."

Best of luck to you all on your RPM album. I'm sure it'll likely be too expensive for most, but when we have our "end of RPM" shindig, it would be amazing to see some of you here! You're all invited of course

Best,
Jon Nolan
RPM co-founder

Re:RPM'ers everywhere - get your scene involved! - 2007/01/15 13:24 This is like Christmas Eve, 'ceptin that Christmas Eve is only one day. Nothing like having to wait a month to unwrap all the presents...

I have spread the word through my travels...We may get some Canadian and Irish entries.

Re:RPM'ers everywhere - get your scene involved! - 2007/01/17 00:25 Question Jon: For those of us who live outside the USA, do we have a different date to 'hand in' our work? Or can we upload it for you instead of posting?

Or do we have to drop it off by hand...

by hand hand of course!

just kidding. good question though. I'll check with the other RPM HQ people and get back to you. don't worry too much about it though - we'll figure that part out.

cheers,
Jon
