Re:fresh demos - 2008/02/23 03:56 Stuff sounds good, reminds me of tally hall a little, but your mix sounds way off to me. Guitar too quiet, vox and drum too loud with uncontrolled dynamics.

So, I guess I agree ,they are rough but the music itself sounds good to me. Not my genre of expertise so I guess I can leave it at that.

Some of the best stuff I've heard here on RPM on this go round is some of the least "professionally" produced material (see: Super Happy Fail Party - a fun disc, and as raw work, it kicks it hard.)

Sure, there are so-called "standard" ways of doing things - but rules are made to be broken... and mixes are up to the individual's taste, and to the intent of the musician - what matters the most is the song's content...

... and so far, content-wise, these are sounding very nice.

Let the music dictate your mix - feel your way through it. Be you - and keep up the good work!

Re:fresh demos - 2008/02/23 04:42 the thing about unprofessional mixes, is that they sometimes sound different everywhere you go - they might just happen to sound like pure gold on your system. Where I'm sitting, the mix is distracting me from the content. To each his own I guess.

Re:fresh demos - 2008/02/23 06:17 Well, we've told you this already (see private email) ibut we think your stuff is beautiful...and since Barney here is the resident "gorilla style recording artist" and he says "keep 'em the way they are...they're great" i would have to agree...
btw...we also agree with everything that ACL says...they're good people who know a thing or two about good music...have a listen to their stuff if you dont believe us...your style is all about YOU... keep it simple and keep it clean...and you cant go wrong...alright then...keep it up...looking forward to more more more....
